The Lexington VA Health Care System (LVAHCS) is a fully accredited, two-division, tertiary care health care system with an operating bed complement of 172 hospital beds. Lexington VAHCS is part of the VA MidSouth Healthcare Network, which consists of five medical centers in Kentucky and Tennessee.

The incumbent shares with the Executive Leadership Team a level of responsibility for the direction and management of the healthcare system and is directly responsible for all facilities operations. The incumbent has direct line authority and leadership responsibility for all administrative operation support services. The incumbent participates on a day-to-day basis in top level executive discussions, decisions, policy making and actions of all administrative functions and indirectly of all clinical matters impacting patient care.

The Associate Director is responsible for taking an active leadership role in coordinating and developing customer and stakeholder support and resourcing to meet objectives of the healthcare system. Develops collaborative partnerships with stakeholders and makes program execution decisions that affect or determine long range courses of action of critical importance. The incumbents managerial duties and responsibilities involve final decisions which have a direct and substantial effect on the health care organization and programs related to facility operations. These include, but are not limited to decisions affecting the nature, scope, quality of, and emphases on, the facility's patient care programs and activities.

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Sharing with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) a level of responsibility for the direction and management of the healthcare system and is directly responsible for all facilities operations.
• A direct line authority and leadership responsibility for all administrative operation support services.
• May serve as the Acting Executive Director in the absence of the Director.
• Taking an active leadership role in coordinating and developing customer and stakeholder support and resourcing to meet objectives of the healthcare system.
• Determining operational services and programs goals and objectives, develop short-and long-range plans for achieving them in conjunction with the overall plans of the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and consistent with the strategic planning process.
• Directing a comprehensive evaluation of operational services goals and objectives and makes necessary adjustments to improve delivery of patient care services.
• Establishing local policy in such areas impacting facility operations as program emphasis and operating guidelines.
• Administering and ensuring compliance with a system designed for the development and communication of program policies and procedures in accordance with new or existing rules and regulations.
• Administering a management reporting system which provides appropriate data for decision making for facility operations, impacting organizational improvements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Description:

The Nursing Department Director (also known as Director of Nursing) is a nurse leader that directs the operations, programs, and activities for individual or multiple units and services in a specified clinical area of the hospital including but not limited to Critical Care, Emergency Services, Maternal and Child Care, Medical/Surgical, or Ambulatory Care. The Director is responsible for providing 24/7 accountability and leadership for each unit(s) assigned particularly regarding: 1) staff recruitment and retention initiatives and outcomes; 2) completion of performance reviews and competence feedback; 3) facilitation of professional development opportunities for all unit staff; 4) development, implementation and evaluation of related capital and departmental expense budgets; 5) provision of excellence in nursing and patient quality service and outcomes through the delivery of culturally sensitive, high quality care delivery in accordance with evidencebased practice, current research and standards of nursing practice. Collaborates with appropriate organizational leaders, management peers, medical staff, and other departments in the development of organizational patient care programs, policies, procedures, research, and performance improvement initiatives. Forms partnerships within nursing and across other disciplines to encourage excellence in service and care. The Nursing Director is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy– honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. Based on the assigned scope of service, this position assumes direct oversight and accountability of nursing practice in inpatient and ambulatory care settings as well as transitions across the continuum.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Regional Director, Compliance and Privacy - East to join our team. This is a remote position that requires residency in KY, IN, or IL

Directs and monitors physician practice-related compliance activities on a daily basis which may include more than 50 physical locations and/or more than 200 physicians and non-physician practitioners as well as their support staff, including practice acquisitions in the assigned region.  Contributes to the fulfillment of the mission and vision by planning, designing, implementing and maintaining professional practice programs, policies and procedures.  Assists in the implementation of system-wide and professional practice policies and procedures, develops and conducts educational programs and administers reviews related to the Baptist Health HIPAA Privacy Program.  Oversees all ongoing regional activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to the Baptist Health policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with federal and state laws and BHS policies and procedures.

Responsible for the due diligence on compliance-related issues and determines the appropriate corrective action, to include the identification of operational gaps, process improvement needs, identification of educational opportunities and coordinating resolution.  Communicates findings and recommendations to the BHMG regional leadership team and facilitates effective resolutions in a timely manner.

This position requires frequent travel within assigned region (up to 60%).  Travel expenses may be reimbursable according to the Baptist Health Travel policy. 

Minimum Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of experience in physician practice operations, compliance, medical billing, or related area is required. 

• Minimum of three years of management experience in physician practice operations, compliance, or other related area is required.  (A minimum of five years' work experience which demonstrates strong leadership may be considered in lieu of management experience.)

• Demonstrated leadership skills with strong commitment to assume responsibility and effectively collaborate across all levels of an organization.

• Physician Coding Certification (by AHIMA and/or AAPC) and/or Certification in Compliance (HCCA or AAPC) and experience in physician procedural and diagnosis coding, third party payer reimbursement, and CMS requirements specific to Medicare Part B preferred.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times is required.
