SUMMARY
The Senior Vulnerability Management System Administrator/Engineer supports the federal client as a critical team member with proven leadership, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position provides technical consulting support as well as advance technical design, specifications, and planning process assistance. Must have the ability to multitask and solve complex technical problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Vulnerability management:
Utilizes vulnerability scanning and security tools to identify, assess, reporting, managing and remediating vulnerabilities across endpoints and systems. Assists IT specialists and subject matter specialists to remediate information assurance problems, and compliance matters.
Utilizes a vulnerability management system and any follow-on systems to properly upload information, generate reports, and review POA&M for vulnerability compliance tracking.
Communicates (written and oral) with stakeholders concerning compliance status including their current status, POA&M, technical requirements for their systems, policy and program details and changes.
System Administration:
Serves as a team member in the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of IT systems and programs. Provides information and guidance to personnel on the capabilities and utilization of all operating systems and applications.
Configures and manages Linux and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, vulnerability patching, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices.
Uses and understands Assessment and Authorization (A&A), Risk Management Framework (RMF).
System Engineer:
Evaluates the security impact of system(s) changes, including interfaces with other automated systems. Reviews threats and vulnerabilities to assess risks and determine effective measures to minimize such risks.
Ensures that systems and procedures used in the enterprise fully support the security integrity and comply with applicable security directives, policies, and procedures. Requests support in the event of serious system security deficiencies or hazards or the discovery of a security incident or violation.
Generates alternative and innovative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a related Math or Science discipline, and a minimum of eight (8) years in IT infrastructure, networking, architecture, administration, and/or security.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Required or with ability to obtain others on a rolling 90-day post-hire timeline
Security+, Server+, Cloud +
Minimum of 1 of the following: (ability to obtain additional per client requirements)
CHFI, CySA+, GCFA, GCIH, SCYBER, CISSP
Able and willing to acquire required certifications to meet customer requirements.
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Must have the skill sets to conduct all Essential Duties and Responsibilities at a Subject Matter Expert level.
Tier 3 Incident Response knowledge and multiple years of hands on experience.
Able to design an appropriate and efficient strategy to meet an agency cybersecurity objective, and to be able to carry it out.
Possess confident composure to navigate discussions professionally backed by a solid knowledge base on the subject.
Able to think both logically and critically to develop a successful strategy to implement an initiative and see it through to completion.
Able to demonstrate capability to operate autonomously in a diverse environment with minimal supervision and provide accurate and precise documentation.
Able to demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills, and be self-motivated, results-driven, and well organized.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (clear, concise and accurate) with experience communicating effectively with all levels of staff and management in one or multiple department/ task areas.
Critical/logical thinking skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
