We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Warehouse Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize our data warehouse infrastructure. As a key member of our data team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of our data warehouse environment. This role requires expertise in database administration, data modelling, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain data warehouse databases, including data modelling, schema design, and capacity planning.
- Perform ongoing monitoring, tuning, and optimization of database performance to ensure efficient query execution and data processing.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, and data masking, to protect sensitive information.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, such as performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and connectivity problems, in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with data engineers, ETL developers, and business analysts to ensure seamless integration of data into the data warehouse.
- Evaluate and recommend database technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance the capabilities and scalability of the data warehouse platform.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior DBAs and members of the data team.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data warehouse management and database administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Three years of experience as a database administrator, with a focus on data warehouse environments.
- Proficiency in database management systems, MSSQL Server knowledge mandatory.
- Knowledge in additional technologies such as PostgreSQL – Advantage.
- Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts, architecture, and design principles.
- Experience with data modelling tools and techniques, such as ERwin or PowerDesigner.
- Experience with query optimization, performance tuning. Deep understanding of the Server Optimizer, Statistics, indexing (columnstore) and partitioning.
- Experience on AWS Cloud – Advantage.
