Further details about the role
An opportunity has arisen for you to join our highly focused, dedicated staff in the role of teacher of design technology. Teaching across key stages 3 and 4 we are looking for an excellent practitioner who can deliver innovative and creative lessons which challenge and engage students to progress academically and develop personally during their time at the academy.
What is it like to work as a teacher of Design Technology at The Holgate Academy?
I have been a member of the Holgate community for 20 years, beginning my career as an NQT, working in pastoral and then as head of art. I have led the creative arts faculty for the last four years and we have an eclectic selection of subjects involving art, photography, graphics, textiles, music, drama, and design technology. The academy has offered me the support and opportunities to grow both a as a teacher and as a leader, giving me the confidence to support and encourage staff to develop and achieve their potential. The faculty prides itself on being outward thinking, friendly and supportive and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Part of this is our focus on building positive relationships with our students focusing on expectations and lifelong passions for both creative design and performance skills. Our main mission is to build our students confidence and experiences in the arts through extracurricular activities and trips, showing students the importance of our subjects and the benefits they not only in everyday education but also later in life.
