Strategy

• Own and deliver the strategy for risk assessment, coverage design and execution of third line assurance over the Transformation portfolio.
• Design the audits to address key risks and regulatory requirements/ expectations.

• Execute audit work and issue validation in an efficient and effective manner, within the given budget and timelines.

• Clearly identify the risks and impact of issues during issue writing, agreeing these issues with management and obtaining quality management action plans to mitigate the risks.

• Provide technical input and challenge on audit work being undertaken within the scope of the product area of responsibility.

• Attend and represent GIA at formal committees and Group meetings, providing meaningful challenge and data-driven insights.

• GIA represents the Third Line of Defence and provides independent assurance of the effectiveness of management’s control of business activities (the first line) and of the control processes maintained by the Risk Framework Owners and Policy Owners (the second line). GIA works with the Group's other control functions, such as Finance, Risk and Compliance, but does not place unqualified reliance on their work. GIA is an independent function whose primary role is to help the Board and Executive Management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the Group.
• As defined in the Audit Charter, all staff in GIA must exhibit the highest level of professional objectivity in gathering, evaluating and communicating information about the under-review activity or process. They must make a balanced assessment of all the relevant circumstances and not be unduly influenced by their own interests or by others in forming judgments.

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

As a Department Manager you will:

• Define business goals, develop work plans and set short and long term priorities to be accomplished by subordinates.
• Direct, coordinate and oversee work plans through subordinate managers and supervisors. Assign work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
• Evaluate program implementation and effectiveness.
• Provide guidance, advice, counsel or instruction to subordinates in resolving administrative and on technical problems.
• Manage relationships with functional executives of IRS operating divisions within the area serviced, officials of other agencies, and in advising management officials of higher rank.
• Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance of subordinate supervisors and managers; Serve as the reviewing official on evaluations and performance recognition or disciplinary actions of non-supervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors.
• Manage and resolve group grievances, employee complaints and/or other issues elevated to the second level.
• Make decisions and/or approve expenses on routine and/or non-routine, costly or controversial requests and/or personnel related actions (e.g., selection, training, promotions).
• Serve as a coach and/or mentor to subordinate managers and/or employees on an ongoing basis, tailoring the emphasis based on the particular needs and background.
• Initiate ways to improve efficiency of the department and increase the quality of the work directed; Find and implement ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production, promote team building or improve business practices.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, the primary responsibilities of this role are:

- Participate in the development and implementation of programmes for SCAL's SME companies

- Work with and bring onboard member companies to participate in the programmes

- Collaborate with partners to enable projects, which includes planning, implementation and delivering targetsand outcome

- Help engender transformation, innovation and continuous improvement mindset

- Provide advisory services to members, and will involve in organising and designing survey vehicles such as focus groups, interviews to assess members engagement, ochange readiness or other issues

- Conduct statistical analysis on data collected, interpret findings and present insights that provide meaningful feedback for decision-making and action
