Major Duties include, but are not limited to:

The incumbent provides high-level administrative support to MAS towards the efficient functioning of all programs and services under the purview of the Service. Due to the magnitude of the programs and services involved and with an authorized FTEE of approximately 450, the incumbent assists the Chief and Assistant Chief of MAS by collecting, analyzing, and displaying information/data in a format ready for decision making.

The incumbent functions as the key for developing maintaining and enhancing the Veterans centeredeness of systems including changes in environment to ensure an exceptional Veterans experience. As the Supervisory Program Specialist your duties may include but are not limited to:

• Plans, directs, and controls long-term and short-term MAS administrative activities, including policies and procedures, personnel

• Responsible for providing leadership, direction, coordination, clinical guidance, organization, planning, and implementation of pharmaceutical procurement throughout all sites of care for the Columbus Veterans Affairs Ambulatory Care Center and affiliated CBOCs.

Participates in station programming decisions affecting long and short-range courses of action for assigned projects. Provides input to the station operating budget related to projects assigned. • The Chief of Surgical Services is responsible for the overall operation and supervision of the Surgical Service, including resident education, Medical Staff Leadership, quality improvement, maintenance of reusable medical equipment, and the provision of excellent Inpatient and Outpatient care.

The Chief of Surgical Service reports directly to the Chief of Staff (COS) and is an actively practicing surgeon or surgical specialty physician. The Chief of Surgery will support the COS in carrying out the VA mission and ensure compliance with VA and facility directives. The Chief of Surgery will be responsible for all clinical and administrative requirements within the service. • Ensures compliance with USP<797> Pharmaceutical Compounding Preparations, USP<800> Hazardous Drugs - Handling in Healthcare Settings, USP<795> Pharmaceutical Compounding - Nonsterile Preparations, VHA Inpatient Services Directives, Policies, and Handbooks relating to CSPs, VHA Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) Guidance for CSPs, Guidelines for Safe Preparation of Sterile Compounding (2013) published by Institute of Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists(ASHP), and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, or any other accrediting bodies or best practices recommends are require for safe compounding of CSP and handling of hazardous drugs (HD)for all activities and functions for the CSPs. Ensures the pharmacy service has written procedures for compliance with these standards.
• Ensures that the decision to outsource CSP prescriptions or to prepare CSPs in the medical facility pharmacy follows the VHA PBM decision-making hierarchy
• Ensures the competency of Pharmacy personnel in the preparation and handling of sterile and non-sterile compounded products as required by USP <795>, <797>, and <800>standards. • Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Inpatient Pharmacy (and Outpatient Pharmacies, when applicable) for the IV room, compounding CSPs and non-sterile preparations, develops policies and procedures for the Hospital for safe handling of HD, conducts training, and provides educational in-services

• Is directly involved in the design, implementation, and monitoring of therapeutic drug plans to achieve definite outcomes through direct interactions with patients and providers in assigned areas.
• Obtains medication histories from patients and summarizes significant findings in the patient medical record and/or to the provider as appropriate.

Major Duties:

• Provides for the overall management of the Service. This includes interpreting administrative and clinical policies, developing and implementing local policies, defining administrative and clinical requirements, and providing advice to Medical Center leadership on related issues. Performs as the expert on administrative and clinical policies and requirements for the Service.
• Evaluates and monitors administrative and clinical activities and acts independently or makes substantive recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team to make Service improvements. Provides expert advice and technical assistance to Medical Center managers at all levels and supervisors and team leaders within the Service
  in a wide variety of areas, clinical and administrative, related to the Service.
• Directs the personnel management program for PM&R Service, performing or overseeing the full range of human resources requirements. Acts as personnel management expert for the Service Line. Functions as a Service leader with overall project responsibility as the primary Service representative for the Medical Center to redistribute the workforce, positions, and sections of the Service to comply with legislative or regulatory changes impacting the mission and goals of the Medical Center, VISN 4, National PM&R Program Office and VHA.

The incumbent reports to Chief, Medicine Service and the duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Oversight of day-to day clinical operations in the Gastroenterology Section, including procedural areas.
• Identifying and addressing barriers to high quality care delivery and patient safety. Communicating through the chain of command in a timely manner for issues that cannot be solved at the section level or have an impact beyond the section.
• Program design, development, growth, and implementation.

Develop and implement plans to assure optimization of resources for veteran access to care. Identify strategies to leverage technology to improve access to care.
• Provide comprehensive patient care in the form of invasive, non-invasive, consultative, and inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterologist patient care.
• Provide services such as outpatient examinations, consultation services related to GI, management of patients with Hepatitis C with the current treatment regimen, and admission status to the facility.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with gastrointestinal diseases according to standard, usual, and acceptable methods, and technique.
• Oversee the administration of conscious sedation, perform GI procedures such as EGD (gastroscopy), EGD with Peg, colonoscopies, paracentesis, liver biopsy, and other procedures as appropriate and in-line with your technical skills.

Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System Behavioral Health Service Line and Primary Care Mental Health Integration encompasses four Community Based Outpatient Clinics and the main campus which spans three states (MS, AL and FL). The Program Manager will assist in overseeing a multispecialty behavioral health Programs consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurse practitioners, nurses and other multidisciplinary team members who are part of our level IC organization

Duties:

• Provides direct line supervision of an interdisciplinary team of staff, including Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Peer Support Specialists.
• Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work to meet multiple deadlines.

This position reports to the Data Integration & Optimization Manager, within the Clinical Operations Service. The Incumbent is responsible for overall program management for the clinic maintenance process for the Facility and leads the facility's efforts to integrate profile management among healthcare providers, other facility staff, and patients. The clinic/provider profiles set up the clinic structure, allowing the scheduling of patients, direct workload capture, direct insurance and co-pay billing, direct MCA costing, and track facility and provider performance against national, Veterans Integrated Network (VISN), and local measures. The incumbent interprets national policies and procedures, developing and implementing local standards, defining requirements and providing advice to top management on related issues pertaining to clinic/provider profile management. Ensures that completed profiles reflect national, network and local goals, directives, and policies. Integrates advanced clinic access (ACA) principles and initiatives, outpatient scheduling directive mandates, ambulatory data capture and workload rules and regulations, coding and billing criteria, MCA requirements into clinic structures.

• Monitors and conducts annual reviews of accuracy of clinic profiles to ensure facility is capturing and transmitting workload accurately for maximum reimbursement, and workload credit.
• Works with services to monitor grid validation, appropriateness of Managerial Cost Accounting (MCA formerly DSS) identifiers, and count/non-count clinics, trains develops, coordinates and provides training to all areas impacting profile management and trains other staff to perform similar duties and will delegate duties, as needed.
• Coordinates all administrative needs of clinic profile building and maintenance, establishing the program goals, evaluating implementation, and data capture components for the Facility.
• Facilitates efficient and effective communication between Program Analysts (ADPAC)s, MCA, encounter form specialists, billing specialists, and assigned service.
• Participates in Facility/VISN projects, task forces, and committees to problem-solve, educate and implement software, data capture and scheduling directive matters, and other workgroups related to access, wait times, and clinic profile management.
