As a Programme Lead, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the South West of England to deliver a cancer transformation programme. In addition they will be responsible for leading and coordinating the regional work required to deliver the cancer transformation programme. In particular, working with Cancer Alliances and partners to coordinate and assure activities.
The post is responsible for providing professional expertise and building on existing work, the post holder will need to maintain a focus upon achieving the programme deliverables as set out in the NHS Long Term Plan as well as the recovery of cancer services as a result of the pandemic and industrial action.
The post holder will provide performance oversight and will provide focused support to this programme to ensure that we deliver the best support to systems to achieve national performance standards.
This is a role with a broad and challenging remit and the post holder should be comfortable working across multiple organisations, using their own initiative and drive to progress difficult work across a large regional footprint.
Using experience of working in cancer services, develop the reporting and assurance function in relation to the Cancer Alliances.
Lead the reporting function of the regional cancer programme board, responding to risks and issues.
Utilising presentation skills to convey complex concepts, develop and submit regional highlight reports to national team.
Respond to significant performance issues in line with regional arrangements and in conjunction with the national team.
Engage with Cancer Alliances and help them in making ready for the implementation of their cancer transformation delivery plans, including assessing their relative readiness to progress.
Forming a link between the national team and the regional team; this will include supporting dissemination of learning, information and policy, including feedback to national team.
Act as a subject matter expert on cancer with senior management experience, provide input into planning, delivery and improvement of cancer services across the South West.
Support the allocation and management of Cancer Transformation Funds across the region.
Support the coordination of the optimal pathways work, including providing direct support to organisations as required.
Ensure that the regional cancer transformation programme delivery plan and activities are aligned to the regional elective care recovery and diagnostic programmes.
