The Pulmonary, Sleep, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine Section at VA Boston Healthcare System seeks a board-certified full time sleep specialist to serve as a director the VA Boston sleep medicine program.

The successful candidate will join a staff of two physicians and one physician assistant sleep specialists providing care for a diverse veteran population at three Boston area VA Boston divisions. The program includes a 4-bed Sleep Laboratory, active Home Sleep Apnea Testing Program, busy outpatient clinics, with equipment services provided by a talented staff of RPSGTs.

The practice mix can include exclusively Sleep Medicine, a combination of Sleep and Pulmonary Medicine, and research depending on the candidate's interests. There is an active basic science sleep research program at VA Boston that includes 7 investigators with funding from the VA and NIH. Their programs at the VA offer excellent opportunity for clinician researchers to establish collaborative investigations at the preclinical level in animal models or establish their own program. The incumbent is responsible for direct coordination of the credentialing and privileging process of the members of the Medical Service (Physicians, RNP's & PA(C)'s) as well as indirect overseeing of the credentialing and privileging process/scope of practice of the Emergency Physicians, Primary Care Physicians and Primary Care RNP's. Major Duties:

S/he maintains a database for all time sensitive certifications and licenses. S/he requests, receives, and reviews quality assurance ongoing and focused peer review process documentation from all of the physicians/RNP's/PA(C)'s mentioned above from the Medical Service as well as assuring the receipt of the documents from other services. This includes not only annual quality assurance/peer review but coordination of the more frequent focused peer reviews for those who are new appointees or those who require performance practice plans. S/he drafts memos for signature by the Chief and/or Associate Chief of Medicine. The incumbent is responsible for following up on continuing medical education credits and works with each new/re-appointed staff member to make sure that the appointment process is understood and completed in a timely and thorough manner.
• In addition to coordinating all administrative aspects of this program, the incumbent functions as the technical advisor to Medicine as the liaison with the Medical Staff Office on all credentialing and privileging matters. To create the very best environment to care for our patients, this site’s layout will be transformed in 2026 to add a number of wards to the existing three.

In addition to the main duties outline for the role, some of the key responsibilities include:
• Ensure the Board and key stakeholders are notified of any new policy, legislative, regulatory and governance developments that might impact on the Trust’s activities.
• Providing ‘wise counsel’ and a confidential sound board to the Chief Executive, Chair, and individual Board members on all aspects of Board business including issues of concern.
• Guiding the Board in the responsible and effective conduct of its role, providing, where appropriate, a discreet, independent, and challenging voice in relation to Board deliberations and decision-making.
• Overall responsibility for the Trust’s corporate governance framework, ensuring there are sound procedures in place both within the Trust, in our working with the SLP and ICS.
• Ensure that the Trust’s corporate affairs are undertaken to the highest standards of probity and according to statutory and legislative requirements by advising the Chief Executive, Chair and Board members on all corporate governance issues.
• Provide specialist advice to the Board around all aspects of the Trust’s governance agenda to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory frameworks and audit frameworks.
• Lead on the design, development and implementation of the Board Assurance Framework ensuring it is regularly reviewed and updated by Executive Directors so that it adds value and provides assurance to the Board.
• Lead on the appointment of the Chair, Vice Chair, SID, non-executive directors, CEO, and executive directors are in accordance with best practice.
• Ensure full secretarial support, advice and follow up action is provided for the Board (including its designated formal committees), ensuring that they run efficiently, effectively and adopt best practice with a constructive relationship between them and the under-pinning governance structure.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Health & Beauty Team. This role will see you working with our Certification Officers as well as our licensees in the cosmetics sector. You will be handling administrative aspects of the organic certification process to support the team and our portfolio of health & beauty businesses – this role covers a wide range of tasks from managing the team inbox and answering incoming calls to undertaking the first review of licensee submissions and accurately inputting product data into our system, plus everything in between.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be A Level educated, or equivalent, and ideally have some experience of cosmetics (science / formulations / product development / technical), Quality Assurance and/or certification processes. You will have substantial administration experience, be highly organised and have a keen eye for detail. We are looking for you to demonstrate an ability to manage your own workload and to show excellent customer service skills on the phone and via email. Excellent computer literacy, verbal and written communication skills are a must.
