Job Summary:
Performs assignments requiring technical knowledge/skills in records management, data management, configuration management, geospatial technology support, database support, data analysis, and other related fields in land remote sensing. Establishes and maintains reference/data files/catalogs in area of expertise and uses state-of-the-art tools and other resources available. Advises other EROS staff on matters related to their specialty and recommends the most appropriate methods of action. Participates in the development of procedures, interdepartmental communication, and standards in area of specialization.
This position will support functions related to EROS archive enhancements & maintenance, Emergency Operations, Un-crewed Aerial Systems (UAS), records management reporting, software testing / support, support for off-shift and weekends and on-going data management functions. This work involves working with new digital and historical analog collections, developing ways to web enable data, migrating data formats and working with internal & external EROS customers. The person in this position utilizes software such as GDAL,ENVI, ERDAS, LAS, and ESRI ArcGIS, and performs data scripting (such as python and Perl). Knowledge of Linux systems and a proficiency in their use is also preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Works on problems that are non-routine / routine in nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
- Working on internal computer systems to update / maintain / develop databases, ingest and download data, monitor system activities when operating systems
- Track and monitor the digital / film archive / pull and box up rolls of film for shipment
- Assist in the development of new derived products from standard / non-standard data sets (NOAA, UAS, ETC)
- Able to utilize software programs such as GDAL and Tableau products
- Provides Quality Assurance checks for end products (reporting, statistics etc.)
- Able to work with and run scripts (Python and Perl)
- Proficient in the knowledge of the film / digital archive and storage requirements
- Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers.
- Communicates with internal and external customers as needed.
- Develops and provides reports (adhoc, weekly, monthly) as required
- Provides input to the Project Work Manager
- Utilizes Microsoft PowerPoint to develop presentations and present them as required.
- Develops and writes documentation on equipment and processes
- Provides training and documentation
- Works under minimal supervision
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education
Experience:
- 4 - 6 years of related experience or technical training
Special Skills/Requirements:
- Works on problems that are semi-routine in nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required
- Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages
- Personal skills to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external customers
- Present presentations to internal and external staff utilizing latest software packages
- Willing to work overtime, shift work, holidays, and weekends as directed.
- Working knowledge of developing on-line dashboards
- Working knowledge of Tableau reporting software
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credential
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for government facility access and user account
Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
