The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Provide advice and assistance to all levels of management concerning disciplinary, adverse, and performance-related actions, including serious cases which have the potential of embarrassing the organization or otherwise require special treatment. In this capacity, the incumbent drafts corrective action notices, ensuring such notices are technically correct, conducts pre-action administrative investigations, and prepares reports of investigation.
- Serve as the subject matter expert when assisting management officials at all levels in developing an understanding of the use of discipline, as well as establishing uniformity of actions throughout the organization.
- Coordinate and process cases involving reports of investigation, removals, involuntary separations and other adverse actions. These cases often involve highly sensitive and emotionally charged situations of a potentially serious or controversial nature.
- Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to managers as requested or required to ensure compliance with the customer's policies and the appropriate law, rule or regulation.
