HGV Technician, Preston
Salary: £20 - £21.60 per hour + benefits

Do you have previous experience of working with HGVs, ideally, in the workshop environment as a HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Technician?

My client is looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Technician to join their depot in Preston on a full-time permanent basis.

They are offering both dayshift and nightshift. Working either 4 on and 4 off, 42 hours per week. Or nights @ 45.25 hours per week.

This client is offering a £2500 joining bonus after you have passed your probationary period.

As an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Technician , you will:
• Performing major and minor repairs to heavy goods vehicles, trailers and other vehicles
• Performing regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services such as tyre rotation and oil changes
• Maintaining inventory in the workshop and cleanliness from oil spills and dust
• Working with repair teams to help diagnose and plan repairs for the vehicles
• Maintaining records of vehicles that have been repaired or handled
• Providing repair services to clients on the road in case of emergencies
• Completing relevant documentation and paperwork as required and providing warranty claims or escalating them to higher management

This role will be a great fit for you if:

• Industry qualifications achieved to a minimum of Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or mechanical engineering (all modules completed) – Heavy Vehicle Qualification
• Previous working experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Technician with a strong technical background
• You are confident using technology

The ideal candidate will have experience within the builder merchants trade.

About The Role:

This is an outstanding and varied opportunity for a pro-active, ambitious and confident individual with relevant supervisory and builders merchant sales experience.

Based at their Garstang site the successful individual will be able to consistently deliver a high standard of work within a fast-paced environment and will support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the business.

Main Responsibilities:

• Developing strong relationships with customers and suppliers to drive profitable business growth.
• Accomplished at driving sales and profits through a well-developed knowledge of products, margins and market rates.
• Motivating, encouraging and training other staff members to deliver better results.
• Data analysing and reviewing.
• Stock monitoring and management including ordering and selling.
• Maintain stock levels.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and support the manager with all H&S matters and take action when necessary.
• Ensure the highest standards are maintained in all areas of the business including company policies and procedures, staff performance and good housekeeping.
