This is an exciting opportunity to be the Team Leader of 2 teams (Throughcare and Aftrercare and Wellbank) both are engaged in meeting the needs of young people moving into adulthood and on to greater independence.
You will be responsible for supporting teams to provide advice, guidance and assistance to young people moving toward and those ceasing to be looked after and accommodated and will be responsible for supporting Young People to manage this transition.
You will also be responsible for supporting the teams to assist young people who meet the requirements for housing support and to prepare them for managing a range of future housing options.
You will lead a residential team providing advice, guidance and assistance to young people in preparation for living independently.
Requirements
You will have a degree in Social Work or equivalent as recognised by the Scottish Social Service Council, as the registered manager for Wellbank and the Adult Placement Service you should have or be able to work towards SVQ in care services leadership and management, SVQ IV.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have significant post qualifying experience working within a social work statutory Children, Young People and Families setting and will have previous supervisory experience.
You must have the ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe.
It is expected that you will hold a current driving licence and be able to travel independently. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
You will have direct experience of working with vulnerable and at risk young people, have an ability to assess, plan, carry out and review plans to reduce risk and be able to support young people toward individual development and taking greater responsibility for decisions in their lives.
You should have experience of case holding social work in a child, young person and family setting and a clear understanding of the issues in relation to working with young adults experiencing change.
Ideally you should have experience of work within a Throughcare and Aftercare setting and a knowledge of residentially based independent living training.
You should present experience of working with young people from diverse and multicultural backgrounds and in particular those who are Asylum seeking young people.
You should be able to evidence an ability to relate to and communicate with young people and be able to demonstrate an ability to encourage them to lead an active and integrated life in society.
The Individual
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is able to engage with challenging young people and their families; motivate others, contribute to a positive team ethos. lead strategic development of the service and work confidently in partnership with other professional agencies to minimise risk and achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Perth and Kinross Council.
You must have the ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe.
