An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (10 PA’s) Specialty Doctor in Older Adults. The post holder will be a core member of the Community Mental Health Team.

The successful applicant will work alongside a large and enthusiastic number of consultant and Specialty Dr colleagues working across Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust.

The applicant will see patients referred to the Older Adults Community Mental Health Team. This will include assessing and managing functional and organic patients in the outpatient clinics and in the community.

The Specialty doctor will carry an individual caseload but will have support of a consultant in their role. The post holder will undertake community visits in patient’s homes and care home visits. The post holder will do outpatient clinics. The Specialty doctor will be expected to undertake Mental Health Act assessments.

The Central Older Persons CMHT comprises of two teams (the other one based in Crewe) but the post holder’s main work will be in Winsford based CMHT.

This CMHT post is based at the Vale House Resource Centre, Winsford of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS foundation trust. This post has been newly created to increase the medical input into the older adult’s community mental health team. The post holder will receive support from the existing full time substantive consultant attached to the community mental health team. This team provides community care service to patients with mental disorders in Central Cheshire.

CWP provides health and care services for local people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care – including the provision of three GP surgeries.

Whilst the new building was being constructed the academy was located in a temporary modern school building on theoutskirts of Nuneaton and opened with 30 pupils in September 2017 rising to 55 pupils in September 2018.

The Role

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join this exciting school, this is a really exciting opportunity to bepart of something very special from the start.

Reporting to the Principal at Quest Academy, you will provide a specialised child-centred speech and language therapyservice to children and young people aged between 8 to 19 years of age who have autism and associated complex needsacross the academy, undertaking assessment, interpretation of assessment results, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, adviceand review.

You will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to successfully contribute to the delivery of the vision, ethos, aims and objectives of the academy; in turn, enabling successful learning and achievement by young people and sustained improvement in their spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical well-being in preparation for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

About You

You will hold a recognized professional Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent and be both a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and also hold registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

You will have demonstrative experience of working within Specialist Education supporting children and young people with Autism and learning disabilities who have severe and complex speech, language and communication needs and knowledge of statutory legislation concerning social care work including Health and Safety and Protection of Children and Young People.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and providing a high quality specialised pediatric occupational therapy service to children and young people aged 9 to 19 who have autism and / or social & emotional difficulties. This will include carrying out student assessments to include sensory integration. You will support and enhance the young person’s ability to perform every day activities and participate in multiple environments.

You will work with the leadership and staff teams in the academy. You will contribute to the creation of an ethos, supporting a vision and direction which enables effective support, and achievement by students, and, a sustained improvement in the young people’s spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical well-being.
