A/C Equipment Mechanic Leader serves in the Refrigeration, Heating, Venting and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Section as a Working Leader of three or more employees located in the Veterans Administration Medical Center Louisville, Kentucky. Performs repair, rebuilding, retrofitting, and state-of-the-art updates for a variety of multi-function fixed and semi-fixed Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment. Duties include:

• Must be UNIVERSAL E.P.A. certified to handle, recover, and reclaim refrigerants for all types of machines used at this medical center.

As an Air-Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, the incumbent operates a centralized, multiple zones air-conditioning plant that serves the medical center complex. The air-conditioning plant consists of two (2) 635-ton Centrifugal York chillers and the system performs various functions such as cooling, humidification, dehumidification, filtration, and ventilation. He/she may be required to work in conjunction with steam generation plant as relief, emergency, or on a continuing basis. Incumbent will provide Steam generation support.

• Must be UNIVERSAL E.P.A. certified to handle, recover, and reclaim refrigerants for all types of machines used at this medical center.
• Operates a centralized, multiple zones air-conditioning plant that serves the medical center complex.
• Maintaining water treatment in the cooling towers, distribution systems and the steam generation plant as per instructions and chemical company recommendations.

Registered Nurse First Assistants (RNFAs) are functioning in an expanded perioperative nursing role and reports to the OR Nurse Manager. When performing delegated medical functions, RNFAs are practitioners who are agents of their supervising physician(s)/independent license practitioner(s) who are responsible for the RNFA's actions within the agreed upon scope of practice. The supervising physician(s)/independent license provider is to direct and review the work and practice on a continuous basis to ensure that appropriate directions are given and understood, and appropriate care is rendered. The RNFA must have acquired the necessary knowledge, judgment, and skills specific to the expanded role of RNFA clinical practice.

Intra-operatively, the RNFA practices at the direction of the attending surgeon. The RNFA shall not concurrently function as a scrub nurse with responsibility as a surgical first assistant. The RNFA has the duty to verify the standardized procedures in effect before preforming the functions of a surgical first assistant. The full-time RNFA may function in the role of the OR Circulating Nurse, Scrub Nurse or RNFA depending on the need of the Service, however the RNFA can not do more than one of these roles at a time. • Administrating local anesthetic

• Provides care for the Rehab patients with acute and complex medical and surgical needs through coordination of services, demonstrating an organized and systematic process for problem solving and prioritizing the delivery of care.

• Implement measurable and achievable patient specific short and long-term goals/interventions.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan/goals on an on-going basis.

• Functions as Team Leader, Charge Nurse, and Primary Care Nurse as assigned.
• Continually analyzes and evaluates section functions and activities in order to improve care to patients.
• Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver coordinated patient care and is responsible for accurate clinical assessments, interventions, evaluations and documentation.
• Provides therapeutic rehabilitation environment.
• Provides patient and family education and participate in multidisciplinary patient care and planning.
• Assist in the orientation and teaching of nursing personnel and students.
• Participates in service improvement model and evidence-based activities.
• Plays active role in interdisciplinary committees to enhance design, and develop performance improvement efforts.

This position independently performs duties that require proficiency in special procedures and broad knowledge of service operations, such as food and beverage preparation, modified diets, computer proficiency, dishwashing, dry and refrigerated storage, and safety and sanitation.

Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Sets up and breaks down assigned station with the correct supplies and food items;
• Portions food items into standard serving sizes using the proper utensils and specified dishware;
• Decides what food items to serve for the most common diets when the diet card or tray ticket identifies only the kind of diet called for;
• Provides patients with basic information about modified diets and the nutrition services that are available;
• Identifies obvious discrepancies between the prescribed diets and the food items designated by the menu;
• Follows directions in assembling, measuring, weighing, or mixing ingredients for basic formulas and supplemental feedings following standardized recipes and using sanitary techniques;
• Delivers meal trays to the patients' bedsides; reporting the patients' comments and complaints to the supervisor or dietitian;
• Provides assistance to cooks in the food preparation area including assembling, labeling and arranging completed recipe items in preparation for use by cooks;
• Prepares fresh fruit/cold salads/dressings/sandwich fillings and cold sandwiches and simple cold desserts along with individual and bulk nourishments and supplement foods and beverages for patients;
• Makes final check of diet trays assembled by lower grade workers for completeness, correct food temperatures;
• Works in one or more functional areas of the kitchen such as food preparation, dish and pot washing, dry and refrigerated storage and receiving, and the serving line;
• Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas;
• Performing other duties as assigned.
