The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (SMSA) is responsible for ensuring the management of accurate and timely patient care coordination in all divisions and modalities of Radiology, coordinating all clinic administrative support activities in conjunction with the Administrative Officer (AO), Chief of Radiology, and other staff to provide adequate administrative staff coverage to assure quality patient care coordination. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performing observation-based screening, collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. This may involve obtaining patient health/medication history, and information about health-related or high- ill complete approved templates and tools.

• Provide individualized and comprehensive case management, clinical services, and crisis intervention to Veterans deemed at an increased risk for suicide while working under clinical supervision.
• Review consults for consideration of Patient Record Flag for High Risk for Suicide and manage the facility's high-risk flags for suicide.
