This is a key leadership role within the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery Care Excellence, supporting and enabling the Assistant Director of Nursing and Midwifery (R&I) and Clinical Lead for Research and Innovation in relation to research and innovation activity. The post holder is responsible for the development of systems and policies supporting nursing and midwifery research and innovation across the Trust and within the Institute for N&M Care Excellence. This includes initiating and developing research and development programmes and policies which have an impact outside NUH. The post holder will support the Assistant Director of Nursing to ensure alignment of Corporate and Divisional research, innovation for the non-medical clinical workforce. They will be accountable for the efficient and effective use of research and innovation resources, budgets and funded/commissioned studies/projects, supporting the provision of high quality evidence based N&M practice.

This role can be physically demanding and involves direct patient care in support of and under the supervision of registered staff, including assisting with patient transfers, mobilisation and limb focussed exercise plans. Although therapy is focussed on promoting patient independence where possible, the role may require assisting with washing, oral care, toileting and positioning. Due to the complex needs of our patient group, the successful candidate will be patient and empathetic. The ability to build a rapport with a diverse patient population, and their families, will be essential to engage and motivate patients in their rehabilitation.
