The Royal Free Hospital Palliative Care team provide a seven day service for patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions who have specialist palliative care needs. The team consists of palliative medicine consultants, palliative care clinical nurse specialists and a team administrator providing excellent palliative care to patients in the inpatient hospital setting. This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Main Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities1. To ensure all clinical treatment is performed to a high standard in accordance with a treatment plan prepared by a community dental officer. 2. To receive and prepare patients for clinical treatment in the dental clinic taking into account any disability or special care need the patient may have. 3. To ensure that the patients clinical condition and treatments are explained to the patient and their carer using the most appropriate method of communication before undertaking the treatment and also to ensure that consent for treatment has been obtained. 4. To be continuously aware of any change in the clinical condition of a patient that may affect the prognosis or the treatment plan and to bring these changes to the attention of the referring dental officer. 5. We are looking for Specialty Doctor to provide high quality, effective, comprehensive, culturally-sensitive mental healthcare to patients within the Community Integrated Mental Health Service (CIMHS) North East sub-team. CIMHS provides integrated mental health care with primary care networks in Newham. Collaboration with other services and local providers is key to provide the best possible outcomes for the local population.

The post-holder will be responsible for the assessment and management of mental health problems on a routine and emergency basis. On average 8 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care. 1 PA will be dedicated to Continuing Professional Development which will include local and Barts Academic programmes. Our state-of-the-art ICU consists of 54 beds, including an 8-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) and a 12-bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), serving a diverse range of patients from specialist services such as hepatobiliary (HPB) surgery, vascular surgery, and liver/renal transplantation.

This is a fantastic role for an experienced band 6 or existing Band 7 OT looking to further expand their expertise in critical care and service development. You will encounter a variety of complex conditions, including liver and kidney failure, cardiac arrest, neurological conditions, ICU related weakness and infectious diseases. You will lead Occupational Therapy interventions for these patients applying advanced clinical reasoning to establish rehabilitation and discharge plans.

As a senior member of the CMS (Critical Care, Medicine, and Surgery) therapy team, you’ll collaborate closely with Physiotherapists and other professionals, guiding junior OTs and Therapy Assistants. You will play an integral role in developing and improving therapy services within the ICU as well as have opportunities to work jointly with other specialist services including Neuro REACT (Rehab and Complex Therapy) which provides intensive neurorehabilitation and complex disability management for patients transitioning from critical care to the acute wards.
