SUMMARY
· Analysis & Reporting. Perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately, following established procedures; recognize deviation from expected results, analyze and correct problems using scientific principles; complete QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs and pending lists daily.
· Training & Development. Assist with training new personnel on responsibilities in the laboratory; evaluate progress of training; make recommendations for training methods and content.
· Evaluation. Continuously assess work processes and make suggestions for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; monitor departmental reagent inventories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process the daily workload in close collaboration with colleagues.
- Perform and authorise maintenance, calibration and quality control as well as routine analysis.
- Be able to deal with interruption and be able to prioritise tasks appropriately.
- Be able to use the laboratory IT system to enter/validate results and to look up previous results, to generate worklists, and to enter data results.
- Participate in internal and external quality assessment as required.
- Assist in the testing and assessment of new equipment and introduction of new techniques and assays.
- Assist in other laboratory areas, including sample reception and sample storage as required.
- Participate fully in the general housekeeping of the laboratory, including counting stock, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
- Participate in all activities which seek to ensure compliance with GCP guidelines and CAP accreditation.
- Contribute to writing and reviewing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
