About the Team The Surrey AMHP service is a diverse and dynamic team who carry out the Local Authority's statutory duties under the Mental Health Act. The team is a county wide service working to support its residents during some of the most challenging times in their lives. We fall under the directorate of Adults Wellbeing and Health Partnerships but work closely with a variety of other services including Childrens, Learning Disabilities and Substance Misuse and also with colleagues from sectors including community health, criminal justice, and acute services. The Surrey AMHP service is the central point for all referrals relating to assessments under the Mental Health Act. Although the role is office based, we work flexibly both at home and within community bases. The team promotes a reflective and learning culture with daily allocations and case discussion, regular in person meetings as well as forums. This is alongside legal update training. About the role The roles are based in our frontline AMHP teams that cover both the West and East of Surrey. As a qualified AMHP, you will be responsible for undertaking statutory duties as laid out in the Mental Health Act, the Care Act and as part of the AMHP service. We will offer clear professional leadership and great opportunities to develop your career. You will be supported to contribute to the professional development of staff and students through supervision and training. The Frontline AMHP service cover the whole County. This role has a starting salary of £46,399 - £49,588 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week, plus a market supplement of £3,000 per annum. We also welcome part-time applications.

About the Role

As a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will be responsible for undertaking statutory duties as laid out in the Mental Health Act, the Care Act and as part of the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) service at Surrey County Council.

AMHPs in frontline teams undertake pure AMHP assessments while those in the community teams support the frontline team's rota as well as assist individuals, carers and families to develop support plans to meet the outcomes identified, using a strength-based approach and family/friends/community options where appropriate and eligible needs are identified.

You will be supported to contribute to the professional development of staff and students through supervision and training.

Shortlisting Criteria

• Ability to maintain personal Approved Mental Health Professional status (Warranted).
• Professional Qualification in Social Work.
• Post qualifying experience that should include direct work with those who have mental health needs.

You will have the opportunity to put into practice assessments such as the moving and handling risk assessments and intervention, with the aim of supporting and empowering our clients to live meaningful lives within the community.

Joining us you will work closely with your team members, as well as with other organisations and agencies, to provide an integrated service in order to support vulnerable adults and their carers in a community-based setting. This community-based role requires you to visit clients predominantly in their homes, as well as other settings such as residential care and nursing homes.

Job Summary This role within First Community (FC) is to provide nursing support to adults and their families. You will deliver skilled nursing care under the direction of the Senior Nurse within the framework of the NMC Code, promoting a healthy lifestyle and independence where possible. You may take responsibility for overseeing the nursing care within your area in the absence of the Senior Nurse. Key responsibilities/outcomes To work within a rota to cover the needs of the service, 52 weeks of the year. To plan and monitor the delivery of person centred health care, evidencing clinical decision making in the clinical record. To participate in the admission and discharging planning of patients from the caseload. To promote the wellbeing, health promotion and self-management of patients health needs. To supervise and delegate care provided by more junior staff, while maintaining accountability. To recognise and escalate any concerns to the senior nurse.
