• Responsible for conducting landlord appreciation efforts and events, participating in public housing authority sponsored landlord outreach and appreciation events, and providing guidance to HUD VASH staff regarding landlord/tenant issues, available permanent housing and housing-related community resources including move-in and security deposits, furniture and other household items.
• Responsible for assisting with housing searches this includes, but is not limited to, driving Veterans to, or meeting Veterans at, housing units both for viewing and walk-through purposes, providing housing lists to Veterans, assisting Veterans in obtaining move-in and security deposits as well as furniture and other household items, and helping with rental applications and credit reports.
• Facilitates individual and group educational groups focused on housing searches, housing readiness, housing preparedness, or groups of a similar focus.
• Coordination with VAMHCS outreach staff and the Community Integration Services, the incumbent may perform outreach to homeless Veterans including participation in homeless outreach and information sharing events, events related to ending Veteran Homelessness.
• Other responsibilities include conducting housing seminars, assistance with the development and maintenance of a Housing Resource Room and Homeless Resource Center, ongoing development and maintenance of the homeless resource guide on SharePoint, attendance at VA and community related homeless/housing meetings, and program presentations.
• Travel between sites and in the community, both alone and in transport of Veterans.
• Provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counseling when called upon for such services and may work in the Emergency Department or Urgent Care areas as needed.
• May need to work early morning or evening hours/clinics to accommodate needs of Veterans.

The Patient Safety Program Manger (PSM) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for trending and analyzing incidents across the facility; participating in the Patient Safety Committee; interpreting VA handbooks and directives regarding Patient Safety; and monitoring of the quality and progress of root cause analyses and follow-up actions to ensure implementation of system changes. The Patient Safety Program Nurse develops strategies to disseminate "lessons learned" and will be the content expert for the VA Maryland Health Care System. He/she participates in the development of innovative approaches to the establishment, enhancement, modification, and /or improvement of care with a focus on Patient Safety.

The PSM coordinates and implements patient safety policies and activities developed by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) and is the facility's key person to help build and implement patient safety systems and promote the culture of safety within Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities and for Veteran patients in all healthcare settings.

The PSM has primary responsibility for training clinicians, management, and all relevant support personnel within their facilities, about the patient safety program and patient safety analyses processes. They are responsible for maintaining clear communication between the facility and the Veterans Integrated Systems Network (VISN), to communicate relevant patient safety information and promote organizational learning and directly supports facility leadership in areas of planning, organization, development, direction and evaluation of the patient safety program within the facility.

The Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory (CCL) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients with oversight of staff, including but not limited to licensed vocational/practical nurses or health technicians/nursing assistants, as appropriate in the pre/post procedural setting. The CCL RN provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching. The CCL RN delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic cardiology procedures including both inpatients and outpatients.

The CCL RN assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and pre/post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.

The CCL RN has fundamental experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice. The CCL RN may function in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting physicians during procedures. They maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology specific equipment. They recognize changes in patient care situations and initiate appropriate emergency actions. Adapts to changes in the daily schedule. May be assigned call, in which the CCL RN will follow all facility policies regarding response time.

Preferred candidate should be flexible in taking several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting providers during procedures. Candidate should be able to adapt to changes in the daily schedule. This nurse must have experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, strong critical thinking skills, and exhibits a robust technically skilled practice. Must have experience with moderate sedation, pre/post-procedural care, and able to document electronically responses to interventions, findings, vital signs and other pertinent information regarding nursing care.

Preferred Experience:

• At least 3 years ICU experience or Emergency Room or Telemetry experience is preferred
• At least 1-2 years Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.
• Specialty certifications like CCRN or PCCN preferred.

The Nursing Officer of the Day (NOD) Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care. The NOD demonstrates the ability to lead and organize the delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. The NOD is an expert in the delivery of patient care and serves as the facility nursing expert at all hours to support, provide and facilitate emergency medical support throughout the facility.

The NOD uses advanced clinical knowledge and judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes. They function as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities for nursing. Systematically evaluates current practice and formulates outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise. Guides, develops, and supports staff from a leadership perspective using professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities.

The NOD is an expert nurse who demonstrates expertise in leadership at the systems level that is sustainable, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex situations. The NOD assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours during the absence of nursing management/leadership. The NOD is responsible for rounding and is a consultant to providers. Collaborates with the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) and other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed for decisions related to on-going patient care and actions taken in emergency situations and disasters. The NOD provides programmatic outcomes to nursing leadership to assist with improving organizational processes and the delivery of patient care.
