About the role
As a Unit Manager with Exemplar Health Care, you’ll be at the forefront of clinical care delivery for the people living on your designated unit.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

leading your unit’s care and nursing teams to ensure we meet the medical, physical and emotional needs of the people we support
providing strong leadership to maintain and continuously develop high standards of care and drive continuous improvement
overseeing and managing all your unit’s clinical elements and risks
ensuring care plans and risk assessments are completed and reviewed in a timely manner and reflect care interventions appropriately
acting as the Named Nurse for residents allocated to you, with responsibility for the oversight, review and update of their care profiles

An exciting opportunity to recruit an Operational Service Manager within the Specialist network has become available, supporting the children and young people’s mental health services. The job role is a full time band 8a and can offer a flexible working pattern if required.

The post holder will support the Associate Director of Operations in the effective operational management of services for young people. New investment monies ensures the introduction of new pathways and operational models into the children and young people’s mental health services throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria and supporting the introduction of these will be an exciting part of the role. Ensure the team meets agreed KPIs indicating that the following objectives have been met

Reduce number of 136 detentions and in doing so reduce the impact on all agencies involved, both financially and in terms of time spent from point of detention through to assessment
• Improve the response to those who call the police at time of crisis in relation to their mental health
• Reduce A&E presentations/admission
• To design and deliver ways to improve the access to pathways of care for those individuals not reaching the threshold for mainstream services.
• To ensure the team will act according to their roles within the Standard Operating Procedure for the team that they work for
• To ensure the objectives of the teams are met
• To supervise and evaluate the team
• The post holder will assist with the responsibilities for all aspects of the service
• Be responsible for the day to day management of the team ensuring a responsive and effective service is offered
• To organise and carry out Management and clinical supervision for all staff where appropriate.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. You will be expected to act independently and proactively to ensure the recommendations are met. This will be achieved by supporting and influencing both the clinical teams and corporate functions.
