An exciting opportunity to join our friendly, dynamic, and talented team for a years fixed term contract. We require an experienced nurse to join us in providing excellent leadership and developing the expertise of our dynamic workforce in the Paediatric Emergency Department.

This rewarding and demanding post requires commitment and motivation to provide quality care for patients from a diverse urban population. The post holder will be working alongside the matron and senior sisters to ensure excellent clinical standards and care are maintained.

The post holder will also assist in the development of individual staff through the appraisal process in alignment with the Trusts core CARES values.

A passion for emergency care nursing with proven communication skills, good time management skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to be flexible are the qualities that will enable you to fulfil this role.

You will act as role model for the nursing team in the department; additionally; you will be able to provide professional leadership, motivation, direction and inspiration to all members of the multidisciplinary team.

This role necessitates demonstrable post registration experience in an Emergency Department setting at Band 6 or above, proven leadership and communication skills, and the ability to initiate and effect change for service improvement.


• To provide clinical nursing and managerial expertise in all aspects of the paediatric emergency speciality, ensuring the highest possible standards of nursing care and use of technical support equipment, within the efficient utilisation of resources.
• Working independently with patient and relatives as a paediatric expert assessing, treating and liaising with the medical teams regarding admission or discharge following their episode of unscheduled care.
• Provide teaching and educational support for nursing and medical colleagues in the practice of paediatric care within the emergency department.
• To be responsible for creating a dynamic environment which supports the continuing education of staff and students? The post holder will provide the link between clinical practice and higher education for student nurse placement.
• Promote clinical governance and risk management within the paediatric emergency department.
• In conjunction with the Matron for ED have 24-hour continuing responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.
• To be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of governments policies and targets associated with paediatric services, such as the four-hour wait and children’s NSF.

1. Ensure that research based nursing care within the ward is of a high standard and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures. By monitoring patient care, supervising juniors, and evaluating the care that is delivered. 2. Maintain individual patient care plans, evaluating and updating them asnecessary to ensure that the patients physical, social and psychological needs are met. 3. Ensure that all patients nutritional and personal hygiene needs are met. 4. Adhere to strict compliance with Trust Infection Control policies and procedures and ensure junior staff and learners are aware of their responsibility, observe staff practice and advise/educate as necessary. 5. Assist with the introduction and implementation of new ideas and methods of nursing care, including research methods. 6. To actively seek the views of patients, carers and relatives on the care and services provided. 7. Develop and practice appropriate extended roles to meet the needs of the patient, e.g. IV cannulation, phlebotomy.

Salary: up to £53,200 per annum, (DOE) plus £2000 Training Allowance

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house Clinical Team, at Hillingdon Manor School based in London. Working collaboratively with the sites, you will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for secondary aged Autistic pupils with associated needs such as developmental trauma, ADHD and SEMH needs.

You will be responsible for holding the speech and language therapy caseload at Hillingdon Manor School. With the full support of our well-established and knowledgeable Clinical network and growing Clinical Team, you will also contribute to staff training. Both a challenging and rewarding role, this position would suit a resilient and enthusiastic individual, with a therapeutic approach and the ability to make decisions, as well as manage their own workload. Essential Criteria:

Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree
Valid and up to date HCPC Registration
Registered member of RCSLT
Previous experience of paid or voluntary work within an autism, trauma or complex needs setting
Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities
Ability to work independently
Experience within the specialist client group. (complex communication issues relating to autism, including language disorder, dyspraxia, sensory impairment, learning disabilities/difficulties and associated challenging behaviour)
Experience of multi-professional work with teams or services within the designated speciality preferred
