The role will primarily be based on Ward 3 The Mount. This is a 20 bedded ward providing care to male service users over the age of 65 who are experiencing crisis related to a deterioration in their mental state. As well as working alongside the ward team you will have opportunity to liaise with other AHPs including dietetics, physiotherapy and SALT. Occupational Therapy provision is currently provided on a five day Monday to Friday basis. The opportunity for flexible working can be discussed during the recruitment process. JOB PURPOSE Provide a variety of pharmacy support duties. These will be predominantly concerned with stock control, labelling, assembly, preparation, dispensing and receipt and distribution of pharmaceuticals within Aseptic services. There will be some receptionist, clerical and cleaning type duties. JOB DIMENSIONS The post holder will not have any line management responsibilities. They may on occasions be required to assist the Pharmacy Technician Specialist with induction, supervision and training of a particular task for Pharmacy Support workers. The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. The post holder will be required to travel across sites for briefing meetings, training sessions and to support service provision when necessary. The post holder must adhere to a high level of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) whilst working in a cleanroom environment. As well as helping maintain a sterile environment by following a stringent cleaning and monitoring schedule. The post holder will be involved in the preparation of products for intravenous use in patients within LTHT. This will involve sessions in a cleanroom environment where the need for dexterity, manipulation and a degree of speed in product preparation is needed. No person whether they are staff, patient or visitor should receive less favourable treatment because of their gender, ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion etc. Respect for Patient Confidentiality The jobholder should respect patient confidentiality at all times and not divulge patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role. PHYSICAL EFFORT There is a need for accuracy, dexterity, manipulation and a degree of speed in the preparation of medicines against written worksheets/orders. Physical effort required if lifting/moving boxes of fluids or dietary products. This can be on a daily basis and can weigh up to 10kg. There may be an infrequent need to handle goods up to 20kg. MENTAL EFFORT Concentration is required to prepare medicines within a clean room environment against a written worksheet. This activity may be performed all day but the post holder is able to take a longer break after a period of up to 2 to 3 hours. EMOTIONAL EFFORT Some items prepared within aseptic can be for terminally ill patients. WORKING CONDITIONS The post holder may on the odd occasion encounter aggressive behaviour and most staff will attended the violence and aggression workshop. Any problems would be passed on to a more senior member of staff. Staff receiving goods into Pharmacy Stores will work with changes in temperature eg receipt of order into cold store, working on or near open loading bays, working outside with fork lift truck. The post holder will be required to receive, assemble, prepare/dispense cytotoxic medicines in accordance with COSHH and SOPs. When working in aseptic dispensary the post holder is required to work in a confined environment where aerosols are used eg alcohol sprays for disinfection. Staff must follow COSSH guidelines and SOPs.

You will receive training, support and supervision, with a strong emphasis on personal and professional development.
