The Microbiology Department at Maidstone Hospital are looking for an experienced Advanced Specialist Microbiology Biomedical Scientist with an interest in Health and Safety to join the team. Experience of CL3 regulations is essential but study for qualifications will be available. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health and safety within the department working in a small team with the Head BMS and the CL3 lead to deliver a safe working environment which conforms to all required regulations. The post involves development and maintenance of COSHH and Risk Assessments, production and delivery of training materials, monitoring and recording of relevant PPM records as well as remaining a central part of the microbiology BMS team taking responsibility on a rotational basis for a laboratory section. The post holder will undertake pre-operative assessments of all elective inpatient and day surgery admissions including local, regional and general anaesthetics. Liaising with specialist teams to create and organise preoperative care management plans, including making the clinical decision to refer to medical anaesthetic team and declare a patient is fit for surgery. Acting on abnormal results in a timely and effective manner to minimise any delays in treatment. Be able to provide health promotion advice when indicated and give explanations to the patients +/- relatives and promote health education to provide efficient discharge of patients. Take an in-depth history from the patient and evaluate previously unknown health issues.

We have full time and a part time position available for a Senior Nurse role at HMP Swaleside.

What will you be doing?

As a Band 6 Senior Nurse, you will be responsible for providing a quality primary care service and a range of specialist interventions for offenders. You will also support junior colleagues and assist and support the team managers as directed, to deliver a nurse-led integrated primary care service and develop a specialist practice-based clinical model of care.

What do you need?

· A professional nursing qualification (i.e. RN Degree)

· An NMC registration

· Previous nursing experience (but newly qualified nurses will be considered)
