The role

As a Functional Assessor, your main task will be to assess individuals and how their disabilities or conditions affect their work life. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you'll listen carefully and take down each person's medical history before performing a physical examination. You'll then produce concise, accurate reports for the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) so they can decide each person's eligibility for benefits.

The role involves meeting people both face-to-face and via telephone/video. But whether you connect online or in person, you'll be sensitive, compassionate and able to ask the right questions while upholding best practice standards.

You will provide clinical leadership to a newly expanded Stroke team across our Hyper Acute Stroke beds as well as downstream wards and support a team of OTs, Physios and Therapy Technicians. You will have the opportunity to support and plan service delivery with senior leaders and focus on quality improvement and research initiatives. The post-holder will be required to undertake further study in: In-house competencies Medicines Management course (accredited) Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician course Patient counselling course Individual personal development plans and much more! - Providing medicines management or other technical information to healthcare professionals both within and externally to the trust to ensure continuity of care. Communicating with other health care professionals regarding difficulties in supplying medicines to ensure appropriate patient care is always maintained. - Achieving and maintaining accredited and/or extended competencies in area of practice as identified in local pathway documentation. - Supervising, planning, and managing day to day work of allocated staff, reviewing and reallocating tasks when necessary to meet workload demands. Deputise for operational manager and provide leadership where necessary e.g., at weekends/on late nights. To be responsible for the management of junior staff including supervision, appraisal and informal management processes. To be involved in the recruitment and induction of new staff including recruitment chair. To create and develop operating procedures and to ensure that staff arefollowing processes accordingly. - Responsible for the contribution to service improvement, evaluation, and development. Actively identifies areas of improvement. Proactivity contributes to service development and is responsible for service improvement through the application of tested improvement tools and techniques.
