The Stroke team at York Hospital are looking for a full time Band 5 Occupational Therapist.

The role involves working as part of the multi-disciplinary team based in York. This enthusiastic team are committed to helping patients to achieve the best possible rehabilitation outcomes following a Stroke.

The role will allow the successful candidate to develop a broad range of skills, in both assessment and treatment of Stroke within acute and rehabilitation settings.

There are opportunities to work alongside experienced clinicians, and the whole team are committed to on-going staff training and development. The team delivers services over a flexible pattern of working, and have a variety of service improvement projects in progress. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop their leadership skills and lead on their own service improvement projects.

The role involves 6 monthly rotations between the acute and rehabilitation services allowing an opportunity to develop varied skills and knowledge.

You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge, operational awareness, service improvement and leadership skills. We have an established programme of clinical and managerial supervision, and we will expect the successful candidate to be proactive in their approach to development of themselves, and supportive in the development of others.

We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in developing their skills in this diverse and challenging specialty, and you should have post graduate experience in Stroke, and an awareness of complex discharge planning and patient centred rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our Occupational Therapy Stroke Service. The successful candidate will be required to offer specialist OT assessment, treatment and discharge support for patients with complex physical and health needs in the area of Stroke Rehabilitation. Our service covers from Hyper Acute Stroke, through to rehabilitation as an inpatient, and into the community with our Early Supported Discharge team. We are Manchester Local Care Organisation - an exciting, new public sector organisation that is bringing together NHS community health services and social care services in the city. We’re driven by the aim of improving the health of local people in Manchester by working across organisational boundaries.

An opportunity has arisen to join our exciting and innovative team of nurses in the Manchester Community Response IV teams. Since first established in October 2013 we have grown into a city wide service and enabled many patients to stay in the comfort of their own homes whilst receiving IV treatment or subcutaneous hydration that would have otherwise required a hospital admission.

We not only prevent hospital admission but also facilitate early discharge by inserting vascular access devices and arranging community IV therapy. The team has shown that IV therapy is a cost efficient way of treating patients, and that the patient experience is greatly enhanced as they are able to carry on with their lives and avoid the disruption that can be caused by a hospital admission. It also means that hospital beds are freed up for those patients who are not able to receive treatment elsewhere.

This role gives a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a community setting and work within the teaching hospitals of this large NHS Trust delivering autonomous and bespoke care in an in patient and outpatient environment. The service is still evolving and so networking, training and data collection and evaluation will be an important part of the role. You will be involved in patient discussions with clinicians of all levels on a daily basis therefore excellent communication skills are essential. You will have the opportunity to expand your practice by attending the clinical examinations skills course and being involved in the insertion, care and maintenance of different intra-vascular access devices for the longer term patients.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated member of staff with extensive experience in intravenous therapy and cannulation to join our citywide team. You will be based in one of the three localities but may be required to work across the city at times of pressure. It is essential you are confident to be able to work independently as well as part of a team as this role involves lone working. Training junior staff will be a big part of this role. The post is full time but applicants for 30 hours will be considered.

To support and strengthen Universal services through building capacity and capability within the extended community services partnership of staff, (e.g. Health, Social Care, Education, Voluntary sector) in relation to early identification of and intervention with childrens mental health needs. Promote the mental and emotional health of children, young people and families in the community, in line with national and local policy and guidance. Provide a direct service to children, young people and their families in an accessible and non stigmatizing environment. Build and maintain strong links with specialist CAMHS services , promoting good quality and appropriate referrals into this service. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
