Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise in the field of medical and health programs and are responsible for

Typical duties include:

• Serving as a Nurse Consultant and an agency-wide technical expert in the field of medical and health programs with emphasis on employee Fitness for Duty Evaluation, Return to Work cases and the Agency Drug-Free Workplace Program.

The Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical expert who uses advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for delivery of high quality and evidence-based care to oncology patients and their families. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems with measurable outcomes. Completes physiological assessments and completes documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance to established policies and procedures. Triages patient problems and assists in the evaluation of symptoms and initiate interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. ABOUT THE POSITION

The DAB, through direct delegation from the Secretary issues decisions under more than 60 statutory provisions governing Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) programs. The Chair is responsible for exercising executive direction and leadership over the day-to-day activities and operations of the DAB, a staff division within the Office of the Secretary. In that capacity, the incumbent serves as a key advisor to DHHS leadership on adjudicative activities conducted by DAB Judges, adjudicative trends at the administrative appeals level and manages the Division's operations including strategic planning, assessment of objectives and results, and management of financial and human resources. Additional duties include evaluating the evolving needs of the organization and coordinating budget planning and execution including drafting and submitting written budget requests and justifications to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Congress.

As the Chair, the incumbent also:
Serves as a member of the Board and designates panels of three Board members to adjudicate appeals. Appraises the performance of the Executive Officer/Executive Director of Administration, Board members and senior level officials including the Deputy Board Chair, the Chief Administrative Appeals Judge, the Executive Director of the Medicare Operations Division, the Executive Director for Adjudication, and supervisory attorney advisors who serve as division directors of the DAB's three adjudicatory divisions, the Appellate Division, the Civil Remedies Division and the Medicare Operations Division.

This is not a remote position. Department of Veterans Affairs requires that all Senior Executive Service and Senior Executive Service Equivalent employees report to work at a VA-owned or leased facility five days per bi-weekly pay period. The Deputy Chief Officer (DCO), Specialty Care serves as Deputy to the Chief Officer, Specialty Care Services for all program function oversight to include delivery of services, assessment of services, and outcome analysis relating to Anesthesia, allergy & immunology, critical care, cardiology, dermatology, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, genomic medicine, hepatitis, HIV, infectious disease, neurology, hospital medicine, pain management, oncology, ophthalmology, optometry, podiatry, molecular medicine, radiation oncology, rheumatology, and sleep medicine.

• Serves as the medical center TMS Domain Manager and is responsible for TMS oversight, administration, and consultation.
• Designs reports as required for supervisors and leadership; links education curriculum with mission and strategic goals; ensures education requirements are included in TMS system setup and management; and creates assignments of appropriate training to local users through the use of assignment profiles.
• Delivers briefings and reports regarding TMS use, verifies data base information in TMS is accurate, monitors external events entered into the TMS, monitors education mandates and compliance, plays a key role in ensuring that mandated education and training is completed.
• Performs review in the development of courses for training programs based on training needs assessment. Creates ad hoc and standard reports as requested and captures metrics. Evaluates TMS courses, planning and conducting validity and reliability studies to analyze
  effectiveness of online TMS evaluations. Develops recommendations for course revisions.
• Acts as the liaison with LO team members to ensure that the system is meeting requirements and supports efforts of the team.

• Serves as back-up Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) and timekeeper.

• Provides programmatic support in matters related to the successful daily operations of the LO. Participates collaboratively in strategic discussions to develop and implement staff education, training, and career development programs, and ensure the educational needs of the Medical Center are addressed. Contributes collaboratively to continuous improvement of education policies, programs, activities, and opportunities.
• Develops and maintains education and training programs for Truman VA employees to support the Medical Center's mission and goals and to meet identified workforce learning needs. • Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for programs within the LO. Serves as the technical liaison between contractors and the Contracting Officer. Resolves disputes, implements changes and interprets regulations and contract specifications. Participates in annual contract reviews to recommend possible changes to technical specifications.
• Provides contract personnel with interpretation and explanation of specifications, requirements, and terms and conditions as they relate to the contract. Serves as the point of contact between the contractor and the customer. Holds informal and formal meetings to discuss issues as they relate to contract performance. Identifies causes of problems and recommends corrective action. Recommends changes to increase the efficiency of support provided to customers.

The Peer Specialist functions as an interdisciplinary team member, assisting physicians and other professional/non-professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program. Peer specialists perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks that include assisting Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness, learning, and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the peer specialist's own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services.

Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• Participates in the service, training, consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services and functions as a fully vested member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Uses personal recovery experiences to model coping techniques and recovery tolls to coach Veterans to relevant skills need for self-management of their health condition(s) and pursuit of their personal wellness.
• Observes behaviors that might indicate difficulty adapting or responding to treatment (e.g., missed assessment appointments, failure to attend or maintain abstinence, risk to self or others, disruptive behavior), completes appropriate documentation, and reports concerns to the treatment team in a timely manner.
