The Nurse III Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed. The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
The ANM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. They equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. They cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
The ANM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. The ANM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. They demonstrate sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. They are self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives.
Responsibility/Duties
Supervisory Role:
- Assuming responsibilities on behalf of the Clinical Nurse Manager during their absence from the workplace.
- The commendable attribute of our working arrangement lies in the tremendous adaptability demonstrated in the coverage schedule throughout day and night, ensuring our services are available around the clock of 24/7 including holidays, weekends, and outside of regular working hours.
- Support the organization in a NOD (Nurse of the Day) capacity.
- Facilitating and contributing to the job interview process.
- Demonstrates expertise in professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
- Makes sustained contributions to healthcare by actively participating in healthcare facility or service-level committees or councils, establishing active relationships and demonstrating leadership in improving care beyond the immediate practice setting.
- Leads educational initiatives that expand knowledge to improve outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
- Demonstrates expertise in evidence-based practice/research resulting in improved outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of Med/Surg with MSN and leadership experience.
