• To provide occupational health service to clients of North Yorkshire Council to give advice, guidance and support on work related health matters including suitability for employment, fitness to work and rehabilitation to the required professional standards in compliance with legislation and local NYC or relevant employer policies.
• Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of effective and efficient health promotion activity for staff within the Council, Schools and other external clients ensuring that the department delivers a value for money service.
• Use clinical skills and knowledge to give specialist advice and support to peer groups, staff, clients and managers.
• Undertake workplace assessment of employees including those with diverse or complex presentations of physical health and/or psychological health.
• Highlight areas of opportunity for process and service development that secures increased efficiency of service delivery and promotes proactive health promotion and ill health prevention.
• Provide clinical and professional leadership, advice and guidance to clinical and non-clinical staff in Health and Wellbeing Services and foster collaborative partnerships with other Services and disciplines.
• To participate in the clinical supervision process to ensure safe effective evidence-based advice and guidance is given to managers.
• Ensure the clinical standards are embedded in practice and monitored in accordance with the needs of the service in conjunction with the line manager.
• To engage in clinical audit according to departmental processes and requirements
• Maintain registration with the appropriate professional body, and to take responsibility for own Continuing Professional Development, maintaining a portfolio of evidence.
• Analyse Occupational performance/participation, with health and medical aspects. (Biopsychosocial and environmental factors (Physical, sensory/communication/interaction, cognitive/executive function, neuro- diversity and mental health)

The Community Review Team provide a reviewing service for older people and adults with physical disabilities who are currently in receipt of care and support services. Practitioners’ in the team complete strength based assessments and work in partnership with our residents to maximise their independence and promote their wellbeing. We are an integrated service made up of both Social Workers and Occupational therapy. The Review Occupational Therapist is expected to work autonomously and in liaison with Social Work colleagues to utilise their functional, moving and handling skills and knowledge of equipment to positively influence the care and support needs of our residents.

Key duties:

1. To visit residents with physical, and/or mental health needs, at their home, or permanent residence and complete Occupational Therapy assessments of function, to help overcome environmental/social barriers and provide tailored support.

2. To complete manual handing assessments of need and ensure residents, and their formal and informal carers, are supported to provide personalised care through robust OT assessments.

3. To prescribe appropriate equipment to improve safety and maximise independence, choice and control.

4. To assess and provide minor and major adaptations to ensure residents can remain in their own homes, for as long as possible, promote health and prevent hospital admissions. To work closely with Housing colleagues and other professionals in meeting identified needs.

5. To assess residents’ medical needs for rehousing (including Sheltered/Extra Care Housing)

6. To adopt a Strength Based approach to all of our work. To support residents to enable access to the Community Voluntary Sector and connect residents to local assets/resources to promote their health and well-being to determine with what is important to them – employment, training, social and leisure opportunities.

7. To ensure that services are provided in accordance with current departmental policies and guidelines. To implement strategies to combat discrimination.

Occupational Therapist:

This post is for a qualified and experienced community based Occupational Therapist to provide holistic assessment to clients with a disability or their carers, using a therapeutic approach to restore daily living skills and maximise levels of function and independence within this client group. The provision of advice, adaptation or equipment, as appropriate to meet the needs of that client or carer. Adhere to the Performance Management framework within the Directorate.

Occupational Therapy (OT) Services at the London Borough of Bromley are seeking an enthusiastic and talented locum to join our FR OT team which is within the adult service.

The role will include the completion of Occupational Therapy assessments, the provision of equipment, minor adaptations, moving hand handling assessments and some major adaptations. Moving and handling experience is required and experience of providing major adaptations via a disabled facilities grant would be desirable.

The OT Team is co-located at our base at Bromley civic centre. We work in an agile way with a hybrid of office and home working.

OTs required to work across all ASC teams - MUST HAVE UPTODATE MOVING & HANDLING EXPERIENCE and LEARNING CERTIFICATION
1. Community See & Solve are the main front door integrated service for people accessing Adult Social Care via the community. We use solution focussed conversations to support people to access the most appropriate information, advice or services which will help them to maximise their independence and prevent or delay the need for formal support.
2. Active Recovery (Reablement Service) is about working with people to help them achieve greater independence and wellbeing. It’s about supporting them to regain the ability to do as much for themselves as possible. It’s about agreeing goals and working with people on:
Developing their personal knowledge, skills and ability
Improving relationships with family and friends
Building connections to community organisations and opportunities
Teams within Active Recovery support adults who have a new or longer term need for statutory services but could be supported to recover or minimise their needs, reduce reliance on long term care and maximise their independence.
3.Housing and Adaptations work closely with Housing teams to enable people to stay in their homes for as long as possible. The occupational therapists specialise in housing adaptations and rehousing matters.

4. Locality teams provide long term assessment and intervention for people / support individuals who require longer terms adult social care support ensuring individuals goals and actions reflect changes in their life and support them to be independent.
The Occupational Therapist will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of clients referred to adult social care as follows:
• To conduct Occupational Therapy assessments for clients within the integrated teams
• To provide Occupational Therapy interventions and rehabilitation plans for people of Hull
• You will provide technical expert information, advice, and support, sharing knowledge and experience to support progression of Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapists.
5. Changing Futures Team.
The role will work within the Changing Futures team which includes rough sleepers team, mental health homelessness team and other adult social care services to plan, prepare and deliver bespoke services for people with complex needs. The role will also have a focus on acquired brain injury. To ensure through ongoing case management that these services continue to meet needs and are best value.

It is anticipated this will be a short term resource for 12 weeks initially providing new appointments are made and in place. However recent campaigns suggest there may be some difficulty filling the posts

Our Ongoing Support Services covering Wiltshire have a full-time job opportunity available. Hybrid working is available but this role will require you to go out in to the community doing assessments, this can be discussed at Interview.
