What are we looking for?

Enthusiastic, motivated, and creative Occupational Therapists with paediatric experience. To support within school settings to identify and deliver OT provision.

Mandatory Requirements:

Role Overview:

The Paediatric Occupational Therapist plays a pivotal role in assessing the needs of a variety of students for Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and providing targeted and specialist interventions to support their development. You will be working within a variety of school environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and teaching staff to ensure holistic care and imbedded interventions. Additionally, the role involves training and upskilling teaching staff to effectively support students' occupational therapy goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' sensory, motor, and self-care skills to determine eligibility for Occupational Therapy provision within their EHCP.
Develop and implement individualised intervention plans to address students' specific needs and facilitate their participation in school activities.
Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate occupational therapy goals into students' educational plans and learning environment.
Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of intervention effectiveness, adjusting plans as necessary to optimise outcomes.
Conduct training and support to teaching staff on strategies and techniques to promote students' functional skills and independence within the classroom setting.
Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, case notes, annual review reports and intervention plans in accordance with regulatory standards and LCP policies.
Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings to contribute expertise and ensure coordinated care for students with complex needs.

Job Title: Occupational Therapist Apprentice

Base Location: London Children’s Practice 1A Quirpele House, Duke of York Square

Responsible to: London Children’s Practice Directors and COO

Client group: Children 2-19years within schools/clinic

Salary: To be discussed dependent on experience

Start date: September 2024; Uni enrolment will be January 2025 (Master’s degree)

Structure of Apprentice program

As an apprentice you will be employed by London Children’s Practice, working towards a Masters (2years) qualification in Occupational Therapy. LCP will be partnering with Coventry University to complete these degrees.

You will be employed full time and are required to attend 20days of university days per year, along with completing additional study to contribute to your learning. You will be engaged in your role as an apprentice for core hours of 7.5hours per day with study time provided. During school holidays you will have additional study time for assignments and study.

Throughout this time, you will be paid your salary and be entitled to annual leave, sick leave, NI, and pension. Additionally, you will attend training alongside qualified therapist and receive on the ground learning each and everyday which you would typically only have within placements.

Throughout your degree, you will attend 3 placements within other OT settings external to LCP facilitated by the university.

LCP will line up an interview with the university as part of this process.

Main duties are as follows:

Core Activities

To assist the occupational need of clients with a range of motor, sensory, behavioural and functional needs and build towards a fully qualified occupational therapist. Duties will be, but not limited to the following:

execute appropriate intervention under guidance from OT individual or group
support indirect actions of OT such as compiling programs, reviewing prioritise and scheduling support.
continuous evaluation of treatment outcomes and review
attendance at case discussion alongside treating OT
advocate for child and family needs
flagging to treating OT additional areas of need
to be responsible for managing a defined caseload under guidance of OT
to work under the guidance of treating OT’s and team lead
to work collaboratively with colleagues from other professions and agencies, in particular schools
to maintain accurate, up to date records for each client
to maintain clinical space, resources and preform set duties
support OTs within their day-to-day role
take some responsibility for own learning
Managing own Performance and Development

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house Clinical Team, based at Baston House School. Student’s attending Baston House School, have Education Health and Care Plan’s to support in areas of cognition and learning, communication and interaction, physical and sensory and social emotional and mental health. The Baston House team use neurodivergent affirming and trauma informed approaches to support students in their learning.

You will be responsible for holding a speech and language therapy caseload. With the full support of our well-established and knowledgeable Clinical Team, you will also contribute to staff training, consultation and reflective practice. Essential Criteria:

Previous experience of paid or voluntary work within a trauma or complex needs setting
Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities
Hold a full UK driving licence, with access to a car
Experience within the specialist client group. (complex communication issues relating to autism, including language disorder, dyspraxia, sensory impairment, learning disabilities/difficulties and associated challenging behaviour)
