Position Overview:
Ashiana Indian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality Indian cuisine, ensuring food safety standards are met, and contributing to the development of the restaurant’s menu. This is a full-time position that requires a passion for Indian culinary traditions, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori, and regional specialties, ensuring high-quality presentation.
Develop and design new menu items, ensuring the use of seasonal and fresh ingredients.
Manage food preparation, portion sizes, and presentation for both dine-in and takeaway services.
Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Oversee inventory management, including ordering ingredients, managing stock levels, and minimizing wastage.
Ensure kitchen cleanliness and food safety by following hygiene protocols, including maintaining accurate records for temperature control and sanitization.
Work collaboratively with the restaurant team to maintain a positive and efficient working environment.
Handle customer requests and dietary requirements, such as gluten-free, vegan, or allergen-friendly dishes.
Requirements:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
At least 2 years of experience working as a Chef, preferably with Indian cuisine.
Strong knowledge of traditional and modern Indian cooking techniques.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
