Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting and advising teaching staff on the preparation and layout in teaching areas for practical exercises, running trials, demonstrations and helping students with learning activities as appropriate
• Ensuring equipment and materials prepared for lessons are to teachers' specifications, including shopping/ordering and preparing ingredients
• Advising students and staff on the safe and proper use of equipment and on the correct and safe way to carry out learning activities
• Assisting in the safety, inspection, repair and general maintenance of all resources, equipment and tools, and advising on any maintenance or inspection beyond your competence
• Understanding the subject syllabus and schemes of work in order to prepare for practical lessons adequately
• Assisting with stock keeping, ensuring that appropriate levels of stock are maintained
• Undertaking safety checks as required, including risk assessments, and complying with the requirements of Health and Safety, and other relevant legislation and school documentation
• Ensuring that all equipment and materials are stored safely, securely and in good condition
• Basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment and organising its construction, cleaning, servicing and repair
• Safe disposal of waste, and ensuring that hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained
• Keeping up to date with health and safety regulations and with developments in Food Technology

• Preparing and serving our menu to a high standard as per company specification to ensure our guests return again and again
• Maintaining food hygiene and health & safety standards within the business and completion of company paperwork with regards to such standards
• Receiving deliveries and maintaining the correct storage of food
• Maintaining and clean and safe kitchen environment

The right person will have a positive, hands on approach, good communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Previous experience of working within a busy kitchen is essential however further training and development will be given in house and also in our Development Kitchen in Hertford.

Supervising and directing the work of other kitchen staff and the Host team, instructing and demonstrating simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff. Practicing safe systems of work across the range of tasks and moving and handling loads by assessing risk and having due regard for the personal safety of residents, visitors, and staff. Our ideal candidate must: Two years experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors. Hold a relevant catering qualification City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ. Kitchen Assistant - required for our new luxury care home ‘The Moat House' located in Great Easton near Great Dunmow, Essex, Part of the Country Court Family.
Hours: 30 Hours per week, working weekends on rota (Workings hours- 08:00 to 18:30)
Moat House Care Home is in Great Easton near Great Dunmow, Essex is due to open in October 2023. The sixty-bed home has been completely refurbished and will include six well-appointed suites, promoting a lifestyle for residents that will offer a luxurious environment with exceptional personalised care. ABOUT THE KITCHEN ASSISTANT ROLE
Within the Kitchen Assistant role, you can really make a difference to our residents’ lives. Your responsibilities will include:

Help our chefs prepare & deliver stunning food for our residents.
Make sure that the food is correctly labelled & meets the specific dietary requirements for our Residents.
Wastage from the preparation is kept to a minimum.
