Here at Serco, within our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC) we focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system, ensuring that vulnerable asylum seekers have access to the support they need along with a high standard of accommodation.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will provide and carry out catering services within the Initial Accommodation (IA), In accordance with all relevant and current regulations, legislation and guidelines. You will work with the Field Operations Manager and Catering team in the delivery of catering services to the whole establishment and comply with all relevant Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations, legislation and company guidelines & operational procedures.
You will work within a close-knit team who demonstrate resilience and always show professionalism, contributing to a healthy workplace where everyone is happy working 40 hours per week rotated shifts working 12 hours per day, 4 on, 4 off including weekdays and weekends.
You will be accountable for:
- Assisting in providing varied and healthy meals for service users to include special diets, special events and religious events by working in all areas such as general cleaning, basic food preparation and production
- Ensuring the security and food safety of all foodstuffs is maintained during delivery, storage and distribution within the kitchen area
- Recording and documenting all relevant paperwork to comply with food hygiene regulations, Health & Safety, HACCP and Company Policies
- Reacting to complaint issues and trends, with a cohesive approach along with the catering team
What you’ll need to do the role
Firstly, you must hold Level 2 qualification in Food Safety and ideally HACCP and Level 2 qualification in Allergens in Catering or willing to work towards these qualifications.
You will have experience and basic working knowledge of a commercial kitchen in a socially diverse environment.
