Position Overview
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Specialist supports the daily operations and administers and participates in all health and safety related functions in the facility. This position assists in investigations to identify and resolve any issues that arise and supports the health and safety manager in these investigations. 

The compensation package for this position ranges from  $58,000 to $87,000 on an annual basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the management of all day to day health and safety related functions

• Determine and describe causes and impacts of problems

• Ability to present information in a clear, logical, and concise manner either in written form or in front of an audience; ability to create and utilize audio/visual aids, graphs/charts to increase interest and understanding of information presented

• Develop, implement and monitor safety initiatives in compliance with the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety within the Province of BC

• Assist the Health and Safety Manager in monitoring employees on modified duty while working with HR and WCB for appropriate turn around on RTW

• Chair monthly Occupational Health and Safety meetings at the BC Facility as well as participate in the monthly CND Health & Safety Council meetings

• Assist the Health and Safety Manager during WSB workplace inspections and complete monthly safety inspections

• Participates in monthly Occupational Health and Safety meetings

• Participate in all GFS safety audits and implement GFS best practices

• Conduct on site orientations for all new hires and ensure all new hires are pre-qualified

• Ensure the completion and tracking of contractors’ safety agreements

• Must be able to conduct monthly internal inspections and audits

• Assist with emergency planning and procedures

• Ensure fire procedures are compliant with the provincial fire codes

• Collect, review and analyze all internal incidents reports and investigations

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Prefer minimum 2 years previous experience in Health and Safety or combination of education, training and relevant work experience

• OFA Level 2 or OFA Level 3 first-aid certificate an asset

• Ability to communicate in both verbal and written form in a manner that is sensitive to the receivers needs and is easy to understand

• Self starter with good time management and documentation skills

• Must be dependable, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually

• Willingness to learn, accept change and the ability to work in a fast paced environment

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in Microsoft Excel, and Word. Familiarity with Google Platform also an asset

POSITION SUMMARY
This position works as a member of the food service team on one or more assignments in cleaning, food preparation, patient trayline or retail café. Provides service and assistance to patients, staff and other customers in accordance with established dietary and retail cafe policies and procedures.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Sets up work station and prepares all assigned foods and nourishments in the correct quantities, following established procedures, portion control and food quality standards. Assures that food presentation continually meets standards.

2. Cleans and sanitizes dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses and cooking utensils. Also cleans and sanitizes designated equipment and kitchen areas disposing of all waste materials. Monitors dish machine temperature.

3. Maintains par levels of foods and/or supplies in assigned areas, orders and/or restocks items in accordance with established routines, rotates food stocks, checks expiration dates.

4. Checks and records food and equipment temperatures according to defined procedures, and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor.

5. May deliver meals, nourishments, late trays and/or tube feedings to units; return excess nourishments as requested. May also assist in catering or special event service.

6. May handle transactions at cash register (if applicable) and/or cafe.

7. This position interacts with other food service department personnel, hospital staff, patients and families. Requires the ability to follow a work routine with regular supervision, to work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining sanitation standards. The work requires the ability to follow instructions and guidelines for the use of cleaning chemicals and be able to work in physical contact with them.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures, read and understand written and verbal instruction, to communicate effectively and to provide customer service. Must be able to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required. POS (cash register) when applicable.

Role Description

This is a full-time Independent Contractor role located in Delta, BC for an Occupational Health Nurse. The successful applicant may choose to work as an independent contractor or in a salaried capacity. Reports:    Production Supervisor

SUMMARY
Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Employee works from a production schedule located within the work area.
2.    Randomly checks product produced every hour, to ensure the customer specifications are met.
3.    Monitors flow of product into processing machinery.
4.    Tends machines, such as palletizers, case packers, injection machines and box machine to maintain product flow.
5.    Works at different work stations as production needs require.
6.    Works on lines where tasks vary, as product of various shapes and sizes move along lines.
7.    Check finished product for possible defects.
8.    Wears all required personal protective equipment.
9.    Assures and participates in all plant safety/accident prevention policies.  This includes maintaining a safe work environment and follows safe work practices.
10.    Maintains housekeeping of work areas.
11.    Follow all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines.
12.    Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
13.    Learn new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.   
14.    Any other tasks that may be assigned.
15.    Must attend monthly shift meetings 6am for day shift or 6pm for night shift.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position plans daily food production for assigned areas and produces all food items based on information obtained from production sheets, café menus, catering requests, and any other approved source.

CORE FUNCTIONS

6. Keeps assigned work areas clean and in an orderly manner. Reports all needed equipment repair.

7. May receive and check in deliveries from vendors and in menu planning. May also oversee production quality when needed.

8. Works under general supervision. Provides leadership and knowledge in cooking and food preparation skills to other members of the kitchen staff. Has primarily inter-department responsibility. May deal with external customers in café or catering work assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

This position requires the knowledge and abilities in institutional food production normally acquired with two or more years of similar work experience in production cooking, plus a solid understanding of cooking principles, menu substitutions and modified recipes for all commonly prescribed diets. Must have skills and demonstrated abilities in hot food production and the use of all required commercial kitchen equipment. Must be able to learn and follow established policies and procedures, read and understand written and verbal instruction, communicate effectively, perform math calculations regarding recipe weights and amounts plus calculate amounts of food for necessary production. Must be able to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required. Must be able to perform tasks within limited time frames and follow production and cleaning schedules plus use chemicals safely.

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital or Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

For Banner Staffing Services (BSS) team members, the food handlers' card is required within 30 days of hire. For BSS team members in Tucson and Colorado, the food handlers' card is not required.

All onsite food service equipment including stoves, ovens, steam-jacketed kettles, tilt skillet, broiler, steam table, grill, deep fryer, slicer, Buffalo Chopper, mixer, food carts, dish racks, cleaning equipment and hazardous chemicals used in cleaning and sanitation.
