We are looking for a Head Cook to join our Specialist School in Nottingham City Centre.

The Head cook will be instrumental in the kitchen by preparing snacks and lunch to 85 pupils in our specialist school that encompasses primary to secondary aged students.

The role involves preparing and cooking nutritious meals for our pupils whilst considering the specialist and varied students’ dietary requirements. We are looking for someone who strives to encourage healthy eating though the menu.

Duties include preparing, cooking and serving cold snack and hot lunches, an overview of pupils allergens records, placing orders, stock taking, receiving and storing deliveries, making up food boxes to spec, able to overview budget and its targets, making sure cleaning records are up to date, able to supervise your team to cover the daily tasks and making sure they have up to date training.

Enrolment of new students is open throughout the academic year, so flexibility in the head cooks approach is key, as additional meals may be increased at a short notice. It is vital that you can maintain an environment where our pupils feel happy, safe, and valued.

High standards of hygiene and adherence to codes of conduct and guidelines are crucial to this role. Must have a level 2 food hygiene and previous experience in a catering environment. Computer literacy is desirable but not essential.

Salary: £14.85 p/hr or £20,134.80 per annum - Term Time Only (45.6 weeks)

Hours: 30 per week, Monday to Friday 07:30am to 1:30pm

Our Food and Beverage Team supports our famous Bugman's Bar in Lenton Nottingham, as well as providing essential food services to the staff restaurant for over 1500 Games Workshop staff. Your role as Second Chef

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Chef to join our team at the University of Nottingham. Based on our award-winning University Park campus you will work within the kitchens of our student Halls of Residence. You will be required to assist and deputise for the Head Chef to manage the kitchen and dining room team and associated operations, often working independently ensuring the preparation and service of a high quality and consistent product for resident students during term time and conference guests during vacation periods. Candidates should be qualified to 706 1/ 2 or NVQ 1/2 in Food Production, or have substantial relevant experience gained within a similar large scale catering environment. You will have excellent cooking skills and considerable supervisory experience. Knowledge of a range of Microsoft Office products and experience of stock management are also essential for this role.

Job Description

• Menu Planning and Execution – create and plan menus in accordance with the style and customer preferences of the location. Oversee food preparation and presentation to ensure high-quality dishes, monitoring wastage and portion control
• Staff Management – recruit, train, and supervise all staff, including chefs, cooks and front of house. Provide continual guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to kitchen staff
• Inventory and Cost Control – monitor and manage stock levels, sensible approach to ordering supplies
• Customer Relations - Interact with customers to understand their specific catering needs and preferences and maintain an open channel of communication to address any concerns or requirements. Consistently seeking feedback is key to success
• Health and Safety Compliance – support the head chef to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and food safety protocols/policies. Create an environment that has safety embedded in the culture
• Budget and Financial Management – develop and manage kitchen budgets, report on financial performance and implement any cost savings required without impacting delivery of excellence
• Menu Development and Innovation – stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate new ideas into menus
• Compliance and Documentation - maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and food preparation processes and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager who will:

• Be responsible for the overall engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel
• Ensure that all training needs for team members are identified, processed promptly, and undertaken at an appropriate time
