Job Title: Painter Maintenance Supervisor

Responsible to: General Manager & Maintenance manager
The Painting and Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing painting operations and supporting general maintenance across QT Sydney & QT Bondi Hotel, while supervising casual team members and coordinating day-to-day tasks. The role ensures that the surfaces of the hotel are protected, maintained, and aesthetically pleasing through expert painting, while addressing necessary maintenance needs. The supervisor ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards and oversees both internal teams and contractors for both properties.
Duties Include:
• Inspect the hotels regularly to identify painting needs and defects.
• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes, cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces.
• Selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing pigments, oils, and additives.
• Erecting scaffolding and ladders, placing drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering.
• Applying paints, varnishes, and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers, and sprays.
• Ensure QT Bondi balcony furniture is varnished and protected to maintain QT Standards and condition.
• Oversee all painting jobs and ensure that work is completed on time.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on the rooms, including ongoing painting and tile restoration.
• Prepare weekly painting schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads.
• Supervise and train painting staff – 2 casual staff members at QTS.
• Monitor and manage the progress of painting tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Maintain all painting inventory and equipment, ensuring proper storage and upkeep.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site, especially in the QTS Heritage building.
• Conduct follow-ups on completed tasks
• Performing general maintenance tasks primarily related to painted surfaces.
• Regularly inspecting and maintaining hotel surfaces (including walls, ceilings, etc.) for painting upkeep.
• Assisting with repairs predominantly related to painting tasks.
• Organising and ensuring compliance with safety regulations relevant to painting work.
• Managing the budget for painting projects and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Sourcing and managing contractors for larger painting tasks beyond internal capabilities.
• Ensure that both hotels meet all safety regulations and are audit-ready, report progress to GM/Maintenance Manager.
