CoStar Group has a long and proven track record of successfully acquiring and integrating companies over the past 30 years. Approximately 25-30% of the company’s $2.5 billion in revenue was initially generated through acquisitions that were integrated to produce double digit organic revenue growth post-integration. The company has acquired 40 companies worth an estimated $4billion in the past 30 years, and currently has over $5 billion in cash on the balance sheet earmarked for growth through acquisition. Primary focus areas include technology, property marketplaces, information and analytics and software in North America and Europe.
Role Description:
As the VP, M&A for CoStar Group will report directly to the CFO and is responsible for locating, analyzing, and developing new opportunities to drive growth for the company. The VP, M&A will be responsible for execution of end-to-end deal transactions including identification, due diligence to deal closing and post transaction close integration. The VP, M&A will ensure proper alignment across the company to drive integration efforts to maximize investments.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and execute the strategic direction of merger and acquisition activities.
- Lead stages of the M&A process, including landscape analysis, pipeline development, strategic due diligence, transaction management and play an initial role in post-merger integration.
- Evaluate current actionable prospects and lead strategic due diligence and transaction management for active deals.
- Accelerate pipeline development efforts on an on-going basis to ensure a longer, more robust list of prospective targets.
- Drive formal quantitative and qualitative analytical decision support for ensuring the right value for deals and targets.
- Facilitate short and long-term M&A strategic plans to include sourcing activities, company alignment and overall achievement of goals.
- Assure proper and thorough benchmarking, research, analysis, and evaluation is completed in a timely manner.
- Help leadership identify and address development issues that affect integration and optimization of investment.
- Establish performance measures, monitor results, and evaluate the efficacy of the investments.
- Maintain accountability and ensure compliance with all regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics during all growth activities.
- Keep abreast of business and market trends across the real estate space.
- Collaborate across the organization to ensure smooth execution and integration.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Corporate Development/Strategy or M&A transactional role within the PropTech or CRE Tech industry
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading M&A deal transactions from inception to close
- Must demonstrate strong knowledge of the PropTech landscape in the US and Europe
- Proven track record of driving successful transactions preferably in the Real Estate or Technology space
- Must demonstrate a track record of success and commitment to prior employers
- Strong interpersonal, decision-making and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative experience
- Able to work cross collaboratively.
- International transaction experience strongly preferred.
