Job Profile Summary
ERM is looking for a passionate and motivated Managing Technical Consultant to join our rapidly growing Capital Project Delivery Team in South Africa. The role is an exciting opportunity to help deliver a range of critical capital projects across Africa for our global clients.
As part of the continued growth of our services, ERM is looking for applicants at a Managing Technical Consultant Level, who have experience delivering Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) projects internationally throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The applicant would require an in-depth understanding of, and experience in the application of lenders’ E&S requirements - including the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles as a minimum. In addition to ESIA services, the consultant should have experience in performing ESIA gap assessments and lenders E&S due diligence assessments.
Subject to meeting the above requirements, preference may be given to applicants with experience in projects in the offshore environment (subsea cables, offshore oil & gas, marine ports, and offshore wind); mining, and/or large-scale infrastructure (roads, rail dams etc.).

Job Responsibilities
As a Managing Technical Consultant within the team, you will be responsible for:
Delivering or coordinating projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects – as ERM works closely with some of the world’s largest organizations, we anticipate that this role will require close collaboration with our regional and global capital project delivery teams.
Delivering multiple project tasks or components, including support on proposals.
Understanding the inter-relationships between ERM services and policies and how these are applied within the clients’ business model.
Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery.
Contributing to our key local, regional and global clients and supporting the solutions ERM delivers for their Environmental and Social Governance and related challenges.
Making use of effective working relationships within the business unit and participate in global technical communities to ensure strong network of resources.
Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends.
Sharing expertise and knowledge within the business unit and/or global practice area.
Understanding how work of the project team and or practice community contributes to ERM’s success.
Adhering to all ERM and client requirements, specifically those related to H&S and governance.
Supervising subcontractors during fieldwork, ensuring they comply with ERM's Health & Safety policies and ABC code, and work is completed in line with project scope.
Applying client/sector know ledge when carrying out tasks associated w with drafting project deliverables and or proposals.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree: Honours / Master's will be beneficial in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering.
A minimum of 10 years' experience in an environmental impact assessment related field.
Understanding of, and experience in the application of lenders’ requirements.
EAPASA registration (or registration status) will be beneficial.
Track record of successful delivery to clients.
Track record in selling and delivering consulting services to senior client representatives.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
High proficiency with standard industry software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office suite).
Physical and mental requirements include:
Ability to communicate frequently with clients and co-workers and share information effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively in both office based and remote environments.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills – both quantitative and qualitative.
Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects simultaneously (sometimes under pressured conditions).

Proficiency at planning, directing, and coordinating the work activity of others.
Frequent travel by airplane or car as necessary to perform work at other locations.
