This position is full-time and based in the Penrith office. As Purchase Ledger you will be part of a small and friendly Finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager.

• Monitoring of Purchase Ledger email inbox, posting authorised invoices.
• High volume Purchase Ledger - handling 1000 invoices per week as a team.
• Data input into an invoice managing system,
• Monitoring invoices in query resolution, raising queries with relevant departments, monitoring responses and logging outcomes to deadlines.
• Ad-hoc administration duties.

We are currently recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our Accounts team at our Head Office in Carlisle.

The role of Purchase Ledger Clerk will sit within a busy Finance Department reporting to the Purchase Ledger Supervisor and will be responsible for high volume processing of Invoices and Expenses as well as various adhoc Purchase Ledger duties.

As a valued team player you should have experience of working within a similar role, processing high volumes, working well under pressure both as part of a team and on your own initiative, with high accuracy and an organised approach.

PROCESSES – PURCHASE LEDGER CLERK

1. Your main role will be to process expenses on a daily basis but you will also be required to learn other roles within the department.

2. Supporting the Purchase Ledger Supervisor with adhoc day to day duties as required.

3. As part of a busy team, you will be required to code, batch and key invoices onto the system highlighting any special payment terms.

4. Run off reports from batches you have entered and check details.

5. Ensure invoices/expenses are fully authorised for payment and within the relevant payment terms.

6. Maintain clear audit trails on transactions.

7. Reconcile supplier statements for the month ensuring figures are updated in time for each month end, requesting copy invoices and following up on any debt chasing letters.

8. Opening and distribution of Post for the Purchase Ledger department on a weekly rota basis.

9. Ensure all individual filing is kept up to date and to assist with general department filing/archiving as and when needed.

10. Various adhoc duties from time to time as required within the Purchase Ledger Department.

The ideal candidate:

· Should have experience of purchase ledger, processing expenses, supplier statement reconciliations and invoice authorisation and processing.

Should have worked on computerised accounting systems and posses good MS Office skills including Excel.

The post holder will work within a newly established service,Reconnect Care after Custodyfor Lancashire and Cumbria, covering 6 prisons and also the wider community of Lancashire and Cumbria. Reconnect is a triage, assessment, referral and support service and starts working with people before they leave prison, where they will have access to a Reconnect practitioners and support practitioners, helping them to make the transition to community-based services that will provide the health and care support that they need. It is offered to people in prison up to 12 weeks prior to release, and up to 6 months support post release. Reconnect will create an effective link between prison and community in order to:
• increase access to and uptake up of healthcare or relevant support services for vulnerable individuals who would otherwise struggle to engage
• reduce health inequalities for prison leavers
• ensure the health needs of individuals who are leaving prison are met, and
• ensure a safe transition from prison to community-based healthcare and support services and to provide follow-up to ensure engagement is maintained

Support will focus on preparing individuals for release and supporting them on day of release, to connect them to services in the community to meet their needs.



The post holder will actively engage and work with a number of individuals who are likely to have a wide range of vulnerabilities and complex needs, including homelessness, substance misuse problems, mental health, significant risk histories and social exclusion, and who at times may present with extremely challenging behaviours. They will support people to access services for the full scope of vulnerabilities as identified

This post is offered to cover the South West area of Cumbria in and around LA12 8AN. Please note that hybrid working is necessary due to the area of coverage – involving some working from home and utilising other trust sites as a bases as required.

Vetting and Clearances:


• LSCFT staff entering the prison estate will be subject to HMP security vetting carried out by National Offender Management Service and will be required to undergo Enhanced Level 1 vetting.
• The post holder is also expected to be have Enhanced DBS status.
