1. Clinical Duties

The post holder will be directly accountable Dental Laboratory Supervisor. The Lead Nurse for the Thames Valley and Wessex Paediatric Critical Care ODN will provide nursing leadership across the Network, acting as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for providers, commissioning and ICBs. The Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientist plays a critical role in the cardiovascular surgical team, responsible for operating and managing cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machines and other extracorporeal circulation devices. BNHH has 18 critical care beds and receives over 1000 critical care admissions each year. We routinely manage complex surgical patients, as the hospital is a tertiary referral centre for peritoneal malignancy surgery. We also manage complex cardiology patients, as the hospital is the Trust hub for cardiology, with a 24-7 PPCI service.

We invite candidates to apply for the position of Clinical Fellow in Critical Care, with an interest in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine. This is a 6-month post (potentially extendable to 12-months), based at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital (BNHH) working within Anaesthetic and Critical Care Service supporting one of the largest Peritoneal Malignancy units in the world.



This is an excellent opportunity to be embedded in a large tertiary surgical service and to further skills in the perioperative care of major surgical patients. The successful applicant would be expected to deliver full on call pattern within Critical Care and then an even split between Anaesthetics and Critical Care for the remainder of the shifts. Anaesthetic shifts will exclusively be in either Peritoneal Malignancy or Hepatobiliary theatres. Applicants can expect to gain experience in managing these patients at all points in the perioperative journey. From a practical procedures point of view the vast majority of these patients receive thoracic epidurals, and full invasive monitoring including subclavian CVC lines.



There are also opportunities to learn and develop ultrasound skills alongside experienced trainers in FUSIC Heart, and Lung modules.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the clinical supervisor. The clinical duties willinclude those normally expected of a Clinical Fellow in a Critical Care unit of any general hospital in the UnitedKingdom.Resident on-call availability is required, which is supported by a dedicated consultant support from home.The working pattern is compliant with the EuropeanWorking Time Directive.Total direct clinical care hours averaged over 6 weeks will not exceed 48 hours perweek.Prospective cover for colleagues’ annual leave is required.There is potential for working more or lessthanthis to suitindividualcircumstances.

The successful candidate will assume a direct clinical role within the Emergency Department, taking responsibility for the initial assessment and management of patients. Post holders will be expected to gain and maintain certification in ALS, ATLS and APLS, or recognized equivalents to these courses. Post holders will receive the same benefits as our current Higher Specialist Trainees with time allocated within the rota for attendance at teaching, governance & departmental meetings as well as non-clinical time. Consultants are present on the shop floor from 8am to 10:30pm(Winchester), 8am to midnight( Basingstoke) on weekdays and from 11am to 8pm at weekends. Role:

• Manage the day-to-day administration of a portfolio of Trust accounts, reporting to the Head of Trust Administration
