• Completing high quality holistic assessments including IDH referrals, nursing needs assessments and fast track paperwork
• Supporting multidisciplinary team with complex discharges and having a thorough understanding of the discharge pathways, criteria to reside and NHSE discharge requirements

We are looking to recruit a full time receptionist to our busy team, providing an efficient Outpatient service for the Trust. Ideally you will have hospital receptionist experience in an Outpatient setting. The main duties of the role will be to meet and greet and check-in and check out patients, check demographics, take phone calls and outcome procedure codes and book future appointments.

Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. You will also need to be flexible, have an appreciation of the confidential nature of the work and be able to manage workloads. The clinics operate Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00 but we sometimes hold ad-hoc clinics in the evenings 17:00 and 20:00 and on Saturdays which can be anytime between 8am and 6pm. You should therefore expect to work some evening and weekends as part of your full time hours.

Computer literacy would be desirable as you will be expected to input and extract information from the Patient Administrative System - Cerner Millennium (CRS).

Previous experience is desirable but not essential, as a full induction into the role will be given.

Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award winning. These departments are teaching areas with fully equipped simulation and clinical skills teaching and Haptic Clinical Skills facilities.



The successful post holder for this post will be involved primarily with developing educational opportunities for Internal Medical Trainees through a wide range of teaching modalities including simulation based training, clinical skills, lectures, teaching clinics, a bedside teaching. The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows supporting activity at our other centres. From August 2018 all fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme. All our fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education. For those who already have this there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course). We have a combined Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy service at this District General Hospital in North East London, with easy access to central London, and the M25 and M11 motorways.

We are offering the opportunity for a rehabilitation support worker to be able to experience working in the acute hospital setting as well as in musculoskeletal outpatients. This post is split between the Medical division inpatient wards ( which include Older people’s Services and Medical wards) as well as musculoskeletal outpatients service.

This post also involves the use of computers to record treatments onto electronic health records, to use online ordering systems to place orders for independence equipment , general emailing and the use of databases.

The successful candidate will undergo a period of competency based training to equip them with the necessary skills to work both independently and with the therapists. They will also undertake the NHS Care Certificate programme.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS East and Southeast London Pathology Partnership (ESEL). We are seeking a driven, proactive and dynamic leader to take on the role of Essential Services Laboratory Operational Lead (ESL Operational Lead). The successful candidate will be sited at Whipps Cross University Hospital on appointment.
The ESL Operational Lead’s key role is the oversight and management of key the Haematology, Biochemistry, Point of Care and Blood Transfusion departments of each site. The management will include, but not be exclusive to, day to day management of the workload, management of the staff and skill mix, management of equipment, management of safety systems, management of quality assurance/quality improvement, management of incidents and management of change. There will be support for this role from the experienced on-site scientists within each discipline, as well as the other ESL site Operational leads, Transfusion Practitioner Team, Quality Team and the Scientific Leads for each discipline within the partnership

The successful Band 8a candidate is expected to work primarily at Whipps Cross University Hospital, but the role may involve rotation and support to other the sites, reflecting service demand.
Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist AND a holder of a Fellowship, MSc Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification at MSc level is essential.
Compliance to these criteria is mandatory and must be clearly recorded on application.

The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.
The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.
Pathology is made up of the following services - Blood Sciences including Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry; Infectious Diseases including Microbiology and Virology; Cellular Pathology including Histopathology, non-gynae Cytology and mortuary services; Immunology; Cytogenetics and Molecular Haematology; Immunophenotyping; Clinical Transplantation and Retinoblastoma.
The 2020/21 total operating costs across the Partnership were c. £126m per annum with a workforce establishment of circa. 822 WTE. This is a Locum Consultant post in Intensive Care Medicine, based at Whipps Cross Hospital.

This is a full time 10 programmed activity (10PA) post. The focus of the job plan is on the intensive care and high dependency units. Those applicants with an Anaesthetic background would also cover lists in theatres. Those with an Emergency medicine background would cover the emergency department. Those with different backgrounds and parent specialities are very welcome and their interests would be accommodated, as well as those with single speciality training in ICM. We currently have two Consultant Respiratory Physicians working on our Critical Care.



Applications from those who wish to work less than full time will also be considered in so long as the fixed critical care component of the post is delivered.

The post holder will be an employee of Barts Health and there may be future opportunities or requirements to work at one of the other hospitals in the Barts Health group.

The hospital has fifteen operating theatres, including three laminar flow theatres and two theatres in the maternity unit.

Our original Critical Care Unit was founded by Dr Gillian Hanson, and Dr Bill Chew, in 1968. The Critical Care Unit now comprises a 9 bedded Intensive Care Unit, a new, 8 bedded, High Dependency Unit, which opened in January 2017 following a £2.3 million pound refurbishment, and the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT).

Critical Care is delivered by 10 consultants The service is consultant-led, supervising junior staff from a variety of backgrounds. We currently support trainees undertaking all ICM modules within the Anaesthesia training programme, ACCS trainees, trainees in the standalone ICM training programme, and Internal Medicine trainees. The unit is recognised by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine for Stage 1 and 2 training.

There are around 800-900 admissions per year; elective surgical admissions accounting for around 20%, and emergency medical and surgical, approximately 80% of admissions per annum.

We provide invasive ventilation for up to nine patients, provide non-invasive respiratory support, advanced haemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular support, and renal replacement therapy.

This is a band 4 to 5 progression role, where you will be given an opportunity to complete your objectives and competencies and move into a band 5 role within 12 months.

This is a rotational post which provides the post holder with the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, good work ethics and attitude following a guided program of learning and accreditation. The post holder will have set objectives for each rotation and by the end of the rotational period be expected to achieve these.

The post holder will successfully meet set competencies designed to develop the qualities, skills and knowledge expected to progress to a Band 5 level. Length of competency training will be dependent on what qualification/ experience the staff member has achieved already but the following would be expected to be met within 6 - 12 months:
• Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
• Medicines Optimisation Program (MOP) or equivalent
• Contribution to service development i.e. completion of either an audit, service evaluation, quality improvement project or development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
• Practice Supervisor (PS) course or equivalent
• Leadership qualification (Edward Jenner, ILM Level 2 or 3)
• The post holder will ensure that the Dispensary, Medicines Management services and Stores and distribution are delivered in a safe, effective, economic, and timely manner.
• Dispensary duties will include in-patient, clinical trials checking and ward-based dispensing, counselling and controlled drugs dispensing, stock control, ward stock topping up, medication returns.
