The Stroke team at York Hospital are looking for a full time Band 5 Occupational Therapist.

The role involves working as part of the multi-disciplinary team based in York. This enthusiastic team are committed to helping patients to achieve the best possible rehabilitation outcomes following a Stroke.

The role will allow the successful candidate to develop a broad range of skills, in both assessment and treatment of Stroke within acute and rehabilitation settings.

There are opportunities to work alongside experienced clinicians, and the whole team are committed to on-going staff training and development. The team delivers services over a flexible pattern of working, and have a variety of service improvement projects in progress. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop their leadership skills and lead on their own service improvement projects.

The role involves 6 monthly rotations between the acute and rehabilitation services allowing an opportunity to develop varied skills and knowledge.

You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge, operational awareness, service improvement and leadership skills. We have an established programme of clinical and managerial supervision, and we will expect the successful candidate to be proactive in their approach to development of themselves, and supportive in the development of others.

We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in developing their skills in this diverse and challenging specialty, and you should have post graduate experience in Stroke, and an awareness of complex discharge planning and patient centred rehabilitation.

We are a dynamic team based at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust and are keen to expand our consultant body on the York site with another enthusiastic colleague. The post is for a sub-specialist knee surgeon with an interest in soft tissue and sports injuries with a knee arthroplasty practice. The current working model includes a 1 in 10 rota covering a general trauma intake providing an in-reach and referral service to other Surgical Wards and the Emergency department. There is dedicated daily trauma list capacity for the prompt management of trauma to complement a 24/7 rota, supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary orthopaedic team.

The department has successfully trained and developed their own middle grades to the level of experienced associate specialists. These valuable colleagues supplement those trainees who are allocated from the Yorkshire deanery.



We are seeking a fellowship trained knee arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgeon to join the current team of specialist knee surgeons (1.5 soft tissue knee specialists and 3.5 revision knee specialists). We run a weekly local arthroplasty MDT, and in the process of developing a hub and spoke MDT system within our local ICT with Hull. We have a wide range of complex cases in the unit including multi ligament reconstructions, peri-prosthetic fractures, infections and cases referred from our local oncology department with metastatic disease about the hip and knee. We are also in the process of overhauling our virtual fracture clinic service and acute knee service, in which the successful candidate will be required to take an active role.

The successful candidate will be given full support in the form of joint Consultant operating for difficult cases, as well as with service development projects, patient safety initiatives and appraisal. We would like to invite applications for a Band 7 Clinical Scientist position in Clinical Biochemistry at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is part of the SHYPS pathology network.

This full time post will be based at York Hospital but the post holder will be expected to work on other sites (not more frequently than one day a week) as required. The successful applicant will support the routine biochemistry service including participation in duty biochemist rota, reporting of protein electrophoresis and attendance at MDT meetings, and will be fully supported to progress through FRCPath exams.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Marine
Advocacy Manager.




The Marine Advocacy Manager is responsible for delivery of The Wildlife Trusts’ Marine Protected Areas (MPA) advocacy programme
within the North Sea, aiming to secure positive outcomes for marine wildlife through the identification of a suite of well managed
Marine Protected Areas. The role involves being a major stakeholder at every stage of the Marine Conservation Zone Project, Natura
2000 project and other key North Sea policy areas which impact upon MPAs, such as planning and fisheries issues.




The post holder will deliver advocacy work within and outside of the Wildlife Trusts focussing on the objectives of the Marine and
Coastal Act (2009). This will raise the awareness of marine conservation such that Trust staff and volunteers deliver benefits for
marine wildlife through their own work.




Applicant must have:

• A proven management and advocacy experience in marine wildlife conservation work.

• A proven track record of effective working with sea users, NGOs and statutory agencies.

• A good understanding of marine wildlife conservation issues.

• A good understanding of marine policy in particular the Marine Act, Marine Protected Area network, Marine Spatial Planning
and Fisheries.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team as part of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Renal services, which also includes a satellite unit at Easingwold and a second satellite unit in Harrogate.

We are a friendly, forward-thinking service and have a track record for developing and implementing new ideas, which improve the lives of dialysis patients. We are looking for an individual with drive, enthusiasm and an ability to form effective working relationships.

Dialysis is a specialised but very rewarding form of nursing, so if you are keen to learn new skills and enjoy working in a team then this could be the job for you.

You would be based at York but may occasionally be asked to cover shifts at Easingwold or Harrogate. A comprehensive training package is provided for all new staff.
• To support the team in the clinic area and to provide care within agreed competencies as per instructed by a registered nurse - prepare, restore and maintain areas, equipment and clinical supplies in readiness for dialysis.
• Conduct patient observations pre/post dialysis (blood pressure, weight). Prepare patients for dialysis programme machines and connect patients to commence treatment as directed by qualified personnel.
• Monitor throughout treatment reporting changing , incidents and patient feedback to responsible nurse.
• Follow dialysis, complete discontinuation procedures including wash back and removal of needles.
• Assisting registered nurses in providing comprehensive dialysis treatment.
• Preparing, restoring, and maintaining clinical areas and equipment.
• Monitoring and stocking consumable supplies to ensure smooth operation.
• Escorting patients to and from the clinical area.
• Contributing to patient documentation and managing phone inquiries.
• Providing hands-on care under supervision, including preparing patients for dialysis, monitoring during treatment, and assisting with post-dialysis care.
• GCSE education and NVQ3 in Health and Social Care.
• At least two years of experience as a Health Care Assistant, with a focus on high-level patient care.
• Proficiency in English and working knowledge of MS Office.
• A compassionate and diligent approach to patient care.
