The Cellular Pathology Department is seeking applications for an enthusiastic and capable individual to join the team as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA).

Applications are invited from adaptable individuals who would enjoy working as part of a friendly team, providing the Histopathology service in this busy department.

Please note this vacancy may close early due to high numbers of applicants and we suggest submitting your application as soon as possible.

You will be involved in the day-to-day support work of the Histopathology laboratory, including data-entry, specimen reception, preparation of clinical specimens for biological testing, microtomy, maintenance of equipment and administrative duties relating to laboratory activites.

For this varied and interesting post, you will need to be numerate and will be able to work as part of a team, be able to demonstrate adaptability and initiative and have good communication and organisational skills.

Applicants are required to have good keyboard skills, and a working knowledge of pathology IT systems would be desirable, although full training will be provided. Ideally applicants should have histopathology laboratory experience.

The core working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-17:00pm each day.

The Renal Department enjoys a close affiliation to the Hull York Medical School and has an active research team. A full range of renal replacement therapies are managed by the team, including pioneering self-care haemodialysis areas.





The post is for 10 PAs and the successful candidate will join 8 full time and 3 part time equivalent colleagues who cover Renal services in a geographical area between Ripon and the Yorkshire East Coast including clinical work in Harrogate, York and Scarborough hospitals and their affiliated dialysis units.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with a strong ethos in team work and quality improvement who is fully registered with the GMC and is on the Specialist Register or has a CCT in Renal Medicine (or within six months of obtaining it) by the interview date. A Whole Time, Part time or Job Share Consultant Haematologist. This is a replacement post and the successful applicant will join 6 other consultants.

The Trust provides Haematology care to a population of approximately 800,000, including high intensity chemotherapy services. Outpatient chemotherapy can be delivered in Scarborough, but all inpatient care is on the York site. We are a non-comprehensive Haemophilia centre.

The role is predominantly based in York Hospital with a day a week on the Scarborough site. An interest in myeloid disorders would be desirable, but is not essential. Exact duties are open to negotiation depending on the interests of the successful applicant. The post holder will contribute to clinical and laboratory work and be part of a one in seven non-resident on call rota.

Whilst the posts available do not form part of the formal training programme, we endeavour to offer post holders the same training and educational opportunities as colleagues in training, including paid study leave. You will be provided with clinical and educational supervision, to enable your personal and portfolio development. There is an active Postgraduate Medical Education Centre on both sites, as part of a dynamic Education and Training directorate, which is developing multi-professional training.
