A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


This is a substantive 10PA consultant appointment with a view to shaping the future of Skin Cancer services in Eastern half of the East of England. NNUH delivers both a cutaneous surgical oncology service and an advanced reconstructive service, within the Plastic and Reconstructive surgery department at NNUH.

The skin cancer specialist MDT is responsible for a population of ~2.5M people. According to GIRFT, NNUH is the fourth busiest service in the UK. The tertiary referral service is based on a hub-spoke model with specialist services delivered at NNUH, with local skin cancer MDT referrals from the surrounding district dermatology services based at Kings Lynn, North Norfolk, Great Yarmouth, and Ipswich & North-East Essex. Specialist services delivered at NNUH include:
• Sentinel node biopsy
• Mohs surgery and associated reconstructions
• Microsurgery
• Isolated limb infusion (quaternary referral service)
• Endoscopic lymphadenectomy
• Endoscopic microsurgery

The skin cancer service links well with the on-site Dermatology and Oncology services, allowing for combined clinics as a standard of care. The Mohs service is truly collaborative with 3 plastic surgeons delivering the service alongside Dermatologists. The specialist MDT is a supra-regional referral service for the management of in transit metastases, and we assess and manage patients from the East of England Network.

The post ideally suited to an applicant with extensive experience in surgical oncology for skin cancer and sarcoma. The principal responsibility will be the delivery of tertiary and quaternary care for skin cancer patients. This will include melanoma surgery with sentinel lymph-node biopsy, lymph node clearances and resection/ reconstruction of complex non-melanoma skin cancers. It will also require the delivery of skin cancer surgery at one of our peripheral sites. The post will also include the review of urgent suspected sarcoma referrals and participation in the sarcoma MDT.

The post includes an on-call commitment with a 1:12 rotation. This includes a 'hotweek' whereby a weekend on call is followed by a week of daytime cover. During this week elective activity is cancelled to provide time for daily ward rounds, review of admissions and emergency surgery. Trauma surgery is supported by the upper and lower limb subspecialties and more complex cases therefore have two consultants available along with resident doctors. Out of hours is a non-resident on call. The on call is accounted for by PA allocation and a 3% availability supplement.

This a full-time locum post for a consultant in anaesthesia with a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia for a fixed term of 12 months. The successful applicant would join a team of 9 obstetric subspecialty anaesthetists who undertake a mix of obstetric and adult practice and cover an obstetric on-call rota.

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

We are a specialist unit in the centre of Norwich specialising in inpatient neuro rehabilitation. We are the only unit of our kind in the East of England, and provide rehabilitation to our diverse patient group from across the East.

By joining our friendly, hard working and innovative team, you will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team in delivering nursing care to our complex patients.

The CT department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to join the CT leadership team, working as a CT Deputy Lead Radiographer providing professional leadership and management within the CT team and supporting the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare.

Norfolk and Norwich University NHS Foundation Trust is a large Acute Foundation Trust, renowned for providing a wide range of imaging services to a population exceeding 880,000. The CT department is experiencing requests for new services with a strategic plan for expansion to align with the Trust vision and five-year plan. This will result in an increase in the service provision to provide a much-improved environment for patient care, diagnosis and treatment. This will include the implementation of the regions Community Diagnostic Centre, of which there will be four new Canon CT scanners, one of which will have Cardiac CT capabilities. This will be a state-of-the-art Centre with diagnostics increasing their outpatient capacity significantly, this is due to open in February 2025.

Applicants will contribute and work within the CT Team to deliver high quality diagnostic imaging to all service users, ensuring clinical safety and facilitating a high standard of patient care in line with the Trust’s PRIDE values. The post requires a flexible and enthusiastic radiographer to join our friendly team working 12.5 hour shifts providing a 24/7 CT service.

The Computed Tomography (CT) Department has five scanners; Siemens Drive and Edge+, newly installed in 2021, Siemens Flash, a Siemens X.Cite, and GE Optima 660 Scanner, providing imaging to over 40,000 patients per year. Our Siemens Flash scanner is due to be upgraded in January 2024, in line with the National Asset Replacement Program. Working within CT provides opportunities to gain excellent experience in a wide range of CT imaging procedures including trauma, MSK, neurological, vascular, perfusion scanning, paediatric, and oncology. Significant growth within interventional, therapeutic CT and cardiac imaging offers a wide scope for personal development.
