The role is responsible for researching and coordinating creative communications, engagement, and innovative knowledge capture techniques to effectively package products and offers for the NHS NWLA. The role is responsible for leading the Marketing and Engagement team and supporting agile working to effectively respond to emerging and established priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the shaping and delivery of a Marketing and Engagement Strategy that supports the organisation’s objectives.
• Ensure progress against the strategy using key performance metrics, including analytics and campaign data, making reports available as required.
• Effective leadership, management, and delivery of the key programmes within the NHS North West Leadership Academy.
• Providing timely, innovative and accurate communications support. Creating, and coordinating a range of content to be socialised on a variety of online and offline platforms.
• Effective line management and supervision of the Marketing and Engagement team.
• Identifying and capturing knowledge, learning and best practice on commissioned leadership development activity, and an array of associated projects linked to our evaluation workstream.
• Providing event management support from organising, marketing, and attending events to provide live communications content and post event knowledge capture.
• Responsible for commissioning services, targeting of resources, liaising with agencies, contracting and budget management when required.
• Be a key member of the team as well as supporting effective communication and stakeholder management.

Planning and Organising
• To develop and deliver multiple project plans to support the delivery of quality outcomes for NHS organisations in the North West. Projects will include campaigns and events.
• Using own initiative to make decisions and take action to ensure delivery to tight deadlines, providing expert project management oversight and delivery.
• Collaborate with the internal team to identify and coordinate annual evaluation. To ensure evaluation processes and measures for performance and improvement are an integral part of all commissions and projects and are actively used to support future improvement and communication plans.
• Be responsible for reporting progress and outcomes of work, both written and verbally, to senior colleagues and to prepare formal reports for a variety of internal and external audiences.
Service Improvement
• Develop and implement systems to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the NWLA
• Devise and provide improvements to current management information, analysing, reporting and suggesting procedures to enhance decision making processes
• Contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas.
• Pro-actively identify business improvement needs and opportunities, by complex audits or surveys, and prioritise improvement activities.
Analysis and Judgement
• Develop and implement a comprehensive content / knowledge management strategy – that captures stories and learning as a result of our interventions.
• Breakdown complex language and jargon into a clear, concise, and readable format.
• Collate as required, a range of information and lead appropriate analysis to develop robust business cases.
• Deliver projects to comply with key performance indicators, and best practice guidance.
• Contribute to developments and improvements for the future of a dynamic service
Communications & Marketing
• Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of the NWLAs communication channels, including internal, external and digital.
• Develops content that demonstrates the depth and breadth of the NWLA’s services
• Use specialist communications, marketing and project management knowledge and skills to devise integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns to include online and offline methods.
• Work with the internal team, our collaborative external stakeholders and scan the horizon to identify common opportunities and tactics and ensure all plans and activities are aligned.
• Act as guardian of the NHS NWLA brand and corporate identity, and of the NHS brand, ensuring they are all used effectively and appropriately by all, advising, and supporting the team on its use.
• Oversee the production of corporate, internal, and external publications as appropriate.
• Monitor the success of communications and marketing activity using data and other insight to understand stakeholder behaviour and touch points, adjusting and refining approaches to meet objectives.
• Gather insight to understand target audiences and our members – their barriers and motivations and use this to develop targeted and effective communications and marketing activity.
• Evaluate communications data, analyse findings, produce reports where necessary and share learning across the team and wider.
• Identify opportunities and develop engaging digital content.
• Develop effective professional working relationships with partners, networks and stakeholder organisations, and suppliers locally, regionally, and nationally.
Finance
• Oversight and management of all aspects of the team budgets
• Provide regular reporting on the targeting of resources and monitor their implementation from a value for money perspective.
• Provide oversight and monitoring of team budgets.
• Ensure activity expenditure is monitored accordingly
• Manage team resources
People Management
• Provide communications and marketing advice and guidance to colleagues at a range of levels and services
• Be responsible for motivating, empowering and the provision of constructive feedback to staff to enable growth.
• Actively promote the workplace as a learning environment, encouraging staff to learn from each other and from external good practice; ensure that staff have opportunities to develop and apply their knowledge and skills, when and where appropriate.
• Supervise other staff as necessary, delegating appropriate tasks and responsibility for areas of activity, ensuring that targets and deadlines met.
• Support training and induction of new staff. Participate in the recruitment and selection process.
• To facilitate annual talent conversations and appraisals with continuous review of performance and development through regular 1-1s.
