Senior Pharmacy Assistant, Chemotherapy Services Unit - Band 3

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious candidate who is looking to build a career in aseptic manufacturing, to join our busy chemotherapy manufacturing team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder must be keen to learn and develop with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will undertake a wide variety of roles within the unit including, but not limited to aseptic preparation, stock management, training and in-process checking. The post holder will be based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital supporting our well established, dedicated chemotherapy manufacturing unit.

At Barts Health we take pride in developing our staff to progress. Within the Pharmacy department we offer several opportunities to do this. You will participate in training initiatives to meet both individual and departmental goals. Once fully trained and we will look to enrol you on the Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 course. On completion, you would be eligible to apply for one of our Band 4 SMT roles when available.



Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent). Previous experience of working in aseptic production is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Accuracy and efficiency are essential. Attention to detail, adaptability and being a team player are a must.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a full time band 5 Sexual Health Nurse to join our team in our level 3 ALL EAST sexual health service, providing integrated sexual health. An opportunity has arisen for two senior clinicians to join the new NELFT Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A) service. This is part of an exciting expansion of CAMHS specialist services within NCEL that align closely to national, regional and local health and care goals and objectives. The role is a 1-year fixed term opportunity (or possible secondment) with the aim of securing further extension into a permanent role with the successful implementation of the service. The post holders will work closely with the Principal DBT Therapist, leadership team, clinicians and managers across Tier 4 units, CAMHS and crisis teams, the NCEL Provider collaborative and other stakeholders.

The post holders will be responsible for assessing, managing, planning, and delivering care to their allocated patients, maintaining professional and legal accountability. They will support their peers, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and supervise pre-registration students. A commitment to collaborative working is essential, with a focus on actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

The NCEL DBT service offers specialised DBT assessments and interventions to young people and their families referred by CAMHS services. This post is within Newham CAMHS which is a large and vibrant specialist child and adolescent mental health service with a reputation for innovation and flexibility in meeting the complex mental health support needs of Newham's children, young people and families. It is centrally located on one site in Plaistow, Newham, and provides an extensive and growing range of services including multi-disciplinary specialist teams such as the Emotional & Behavioural Teams, Adolescent Mental Health Team, Paediatric Liaison Team, Neurodevelopmental Team, Looked After Children Team and Social Care/Families First Team. There is a broad spectrum of disciplines (approximately 80 whole time equivalent clinical staff) and a long tradition of effective multidisciplinary and interagency working.

The CWP role is to provide support in the Triage and management of families waiting for treatment with our waiting list team E&B3 and also our Front Door Team with referrals. This will also involve delivery of both individual and group interventions for young people and parents under the supervision of a suitably qualified senior clinician. De Wardener is the renal High Dependency Unit (HDU) , a hybrid ward that specialises in the care of renal patients who require intensive monitoring for highly complex needs. This includes patients who have had a kidney or a kidney and pancreas transplant and patients who require non-invasive ventilatory support such as CPAP, BiPAP and High flow oxygen and/or tracheostomy care and inotropic support .There is also a ‘lines’ room on de Wardener where access for dialysis is inserted under imaging guidance. The post holder will be responsible for managing a complex employee relations case load including disciplinary, grievance, bullying and harassment and capability cases, by working proactively with managers to agree outcomes and propose recommendations, ensuring that risks are dealt with efficiently.

The post holder will be a senior advisor on the team, providing specialist advice to staff and managers in relation to a range of complex employment related issues and will be required to make subsequent recommendations for development of policy, flow-charts, templates and best practice guidelines. The Employee Relations team will adopt a coaching approach in the delivery of advice to managers in order to build confidence in dealing with complex people-management issues and interpreting policy so that balanced decisions can be made without recourse to HR.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that advice and support to managers complies with HR best practice and employment legislation and fosters good employee relations.

We are recruiting to the post of Clinical Fellow (FY2-ST1-2 Equivalent Grade) in Solid tumour oncology to commence from November 2024. The post will be available for 12 months on a fixed-term basis.



This post is based in the recently re-built state-of-the-art facilities at the Barts Cancer Centre at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City of London, rated overall as ‘Good’ in a 2017 CQC inspection, with some ‘Outstanding’ areas.



The centre is a major tertiary referral centre for all forms of malignant disease in adults, providing cancer services to a population of more than one and a half million people in East London and the City. We specialise in the delivery of inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy, immunotherapy and high-dose therapies, and run a large clinical trials service.



The post would be suitable for experienced doctors who have completed Foundation and Core Medical competencies (or equivalent), and wish to gain a period of focussed experience and training in a medical specialty in which they are interested in pursuing ST3 training. They would be suitable for candidates who are attempting the second parts of the MRCP (see section 3 below). Less experienced candidates will certainly be considered and are encouraged to apply.
