Fixed Term 12 months

This is an exciting post for two x full time substantive specialty gastroenterology doctor post based at Royal Liverpool Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department.

The appointee will be expected to work flexibly and be responsible for day-to-day patient care, ward rounds and gastroenterology medicine clinic sessions and review of referrals from other specialties.

During this time, he/she will be working with the support of the gastroenterology consultants on the ward and will be expected to increase his/her clinical knowledge and skills.

The post holder will be expected to share knowledge and skills with junior members of staff, offering support and learning opportunities. The post holder will be responsible for supervising the FY1, FY2 and IMT doctors and work closely with the consultants, focusing on providing acute gastroenterology care early in the patient’s hospital journey (In reach service).

There will be opportunity to undertake upper and lower GI endoscopy. The current post will have JAG Certification to practice upper and lower endoscopies independently with evidence of skills in endoscopic hemostasis’s to be able to undertake on call on a GI bleed rota.

The proposed Job Plan consists of 10 programmed activities plus 1 additional PA for the on call element. The Job Plan and duties will be reviewed and updated by the Clinical Director/Head of Service on a regular basis in line with demands of the service. In addition an annual appraisal will be undertaken. The call centre is the main communications for the Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We receive approximately 130,000 calls per month and 20000 outpatient appointment calls per month.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team.

We are offering one 37.5 hour post with no set work pattern; you will be working according to the needs of the service. Leading the site based Resourcing and Deployment Function
• Managing the designated team ensuring consistency of approach and seamless service
delivery across the site and at Trust level with other site counterparts and transactional
POD teams.
• To lead on development and implementation of agreed resourcing and deployment
strategies/plans that reflect business needs, identify opportunities for growth and financial
sustainability.
• Lead the delivery and development of recruitment, resourcing, and data intelligence

• Working in conjunction with systems leads to ensure that the systems in use in sites (e.g eroster, ESR, Trac) are embedded and the functionality of them are optimised and that the

• Lead the site based management of medical workforce planning i.e. co-ordination of job
planning cycle in conjunction with site medical director and reviewing rosters to ensure they
meet service needs.
• Accountable for providing site workforce intelligence and analysis, highlighting themes and

recommendations for service improvement. This will be with support from the central

• To support new ways of working and improvement of service in designated areas of

• To work with transactional POD teams to maintain and develop performance and
governance monitoring arrangements for sites in relation to outsourced contracts (eg,
payroll).

compliance, audit and risk management agenda. This includes contributing to the
development of the POD Directorate’s business continuity plan.
• Preparation of identified elements for the site People and OD Committee and Hospital
