Job Details

• Conducting new reviews of newly identified claims which are of concern, and where appropriate, supply guidance or feedback to the wider claims teams
  
• Conducting investigations on claims where we hold a suspicion of fraud - conducting desktop investigations, conducting formal interviews, liaising with suppliers, use of intelligence solutions)
  
• Conducting intelligence and desktop investigations using various systems
  
• Being a technical referral point for Home Claims Handlers to support in fraud identification
  
• Supporting the design of relevant fraud processes
  
• Support us in delivering a market leading fraud defence for Home Claims

• Supporting Home Claims in building the right capability in providing good customer and commercial outcomes - reviewing and monitoring outcomes/KPI's and supporting improvements through technical development
  
• Creating, maintaining and delivering all function specific technical training for the department, as well as maintaining new start training content as a subject matter expert

The purpose of the role is to deliver financial accounting and drive performance improvements through effective financial monitoring, advice and support by partnering with services.

Key Responsibilities:

Champion excellent management of financial resources, promoting probity, efficiency, high performance and overall value for money with service areas.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the newly developed Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (FIND) Community Team in South London and Maudsley (SLaM).

The FIND Team will provide safe transition for inpatients discharged from the inpatient Forensic Services to the community providing specialist assessment, treatment and consultation to the Forensic Service in order to ensure a smooth, safe and clinically justified pathway to individuals with mental illness, offending history and learning disability with or without neurodevelopmental disorder.

The three forensic services of SLaM, South West London and St Georges( SWLSTG), and Oxleas together comprise the South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP). The SLP’s overarching goals centre on bringing care closer to home, improving patient pathways and outcomes by delivering excellent care in better environments. The SLP has a track record of delivering highly effective, clinically informed service developments in order to better meet the needs of service-users. The FIND provision is one such development and the SLaM FIND Team will therefore work closely with the FIND Teams in each of the other Trusts in order to expedite service-user’s transition through inpatient settings to community provision.

· To develop, co-ordinate and ensure the systematic provision of a psychological therapy service to the FIND team and personally provide highly specialist clinical input through carrying a small caseload managed in partnership with the Multi-Disciplinary team (MDT).

· To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

· To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist in the FIND team

· To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of other psychological practitioners in the FIND team.

· To promote service evaluation, audit, research and policy development.

· To work as an autonomous professional within registration body guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.

Role purpose

Role purpose Reporting into our Home Claims Leader the Home Claims Handler will responsible for the management of home claims handling within their handling authority limit. The Home Claims Handler is also required to maintain and deliver an effective claims support function through desktop settlements or liaising with suppliers whilst always being available to the customer. Handlers will also be required to support the management team in achieving SLAs across the department by allocating and managing case load effectively within SLA targets.

Accountabilities

• Responsibility for managing a portfolio of claims with varying complexity. To achieve the optimum outcome in line with Hastings 4CS.

• To act as a technical referral point for their colleagues, our suppliers and all internal stakeholders.

• Responsible for ensuring claims are adequately reserved, loss coded, managed effectively to enable accurate pricing and reserving.

• Maintains, updates and navigates various system platforms i.e., Fintech , GW and respond.

• As directed by the leadership team achieve outcomes that places Hastings as a market leading home claims handling function.

• Work with the Claims Team Leader to maintain best practice documents on technical applications for buildings, contents , recoveries and subsidence.

• Handle and resolve complaints including FOS referrals, ensure that that any changes are feedback to the relevant parties as best practice.

• Ensure that you are meeting customers' fair and reasonable expectations and provide fair outcomes. Appropriately question and challenge peers and managers where processes and procedures do not meet these expectations and any activity that does not place customers' interests at the heart of how we do business.

• Complete training as mandated by the company and regulated by the FCA.

• Ensure that self and direct reports if in place achieve and demonstrate levels of competence required to fulfil job requirements

Skills Knowledge & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Home Claims Experience is essential

• Customer service experience, telephony based

• Able to communicate and work remotely - using all available online tools i.e. MS teams, systems

• Complies with consumer duty when dealing with/advising customers - can relay technical context and rationale to any given situation i.e. weather

• Can work efficiently and accurately, in line with SLAs and targets, to interpret, track and allocate incoming claims.

• Strong system skills, ability to navigate and update multiple platforms simultaneously

• Strong written and verbal communication skills - can build strong relationships with internal colleagues, external suppliers and Customers.

• Will develop a good understanding of the value and impact of our work for customers, our team and the wider business

• Understands how to appropriately identify and support of vulnerable customers

• Understanding of general insurance and claims
