What you’ll be doing
As Director, Emerging Payments and Strategic Initiatives you will have accountability for supporting the overall Payments vision, roadmap and strategy work including leading strategic initiatives around emerging payment capabilities; competitive market landscape; working with the payment product and functional areas to consolidate our mid-long term plans. You will work closely with the Payments and Deposits leadership team to drive business planning, KPI management, The Director will support the refresh and tracking of the Payments strategy and roadmap against plans, KPIs and outcomes to drive business results. You will also work closely with the Payments Innovation team to lead emerging payment assessments and projects which may include managing workstreams, business casing and development of operating models to support change. This is a highly collaborative mandate with exposure across Cards, Digital, Enterprise Payments and Client Franchising group to deliver on the Payments goals.
Lead Payments Strategy, Roadmap and Planning
Support development of holistic Payments Vision refresh short-term/long term & roadmap inclusive of product/functional plans (e.g. Product, Ops)
Monitor progress against KPIs and progress to date
Lead the ongoing refresh of payments and product functional roadmaps with the Payments Leadership team and ensure alignment to overarching objectives
Coordinate and lead socialization of plans and roadmap with key stakeholders to ensure alignment (e.g. Enterprise Payments, Digital, Cards, Client Segmentation and etc.)
Lead the annual business planning with the Payments leadership team, Technology and Delivery and working with Deposits to consolidate plans
Manage payments analytics prioritization and tracking for reporting needs.
Assess Payments competitive landscape to distill Key insights
Assess key competitor landscape (top 5 and non-bank) and identify key insights (e.g. threats/opportunities) as it aligns to CIBC’s payments plans in partnership with the Cards team
Stay abreast of payments landscape and key trends.
Evaluating emerging payment capabilities including business casing, operating model and go-to-market plans
Lead workstreams on payment initiatives
Manage and/or Initiate projects with strategic assessments; outlining recommendations; defining scope; developing appropriate business cases and presentations
Analyze and formulate recommendations on strategic payment initiatives.
Relationship Management
Anticipate business needs and manage/foster relationships with business partners and other key stakeholders
Develop and manage strong relationships with CIBC senior management within the business partners across all Deposits & Payments, Cards, Digital, Technology, Marketing and etc.

You are able to navigate through the organization to get things done and deliver results. You have proven ability in managing strategic and complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders in a multi-dimensional environment

You have experience in the development of payment and product strategies and can develop business cases, business requirements and have comprehensive knowledge of financial services to analyze and interpret complex concepts and apply these in creative ways. Product management experience is considered an asset.
