An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Department at the Royal Derby Hospital for a patient process administrator shift lead.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the Adult and Children's Emergency Department providing a comprehensive front-linereceptionist/administrativeservice booking in patients and answering enquiries from patients, relatives and staff. You will be responsible for processing patient details to create and maintain the patients record whilst they are within the Emergency Department.

The post works on a 24-hour shift rotation, rotating between the areas within the department. The role is based within the busy, clinical environment of the Emergency Department.

You will be required to assist with the mentoring of new PPAs to the department.

To be the first point of contact for self-presenting patients, answering general queries both face to face and telephone.

Registering patients on arrival at the front reception or pit stop. To ensure that patients are received and processed through the Department in line with key performance targets

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist in the overall delivery of patient care. Required to work within a team or alone at times, often without direct supervision.Required to act on own initiative in situations of rapid decision making for example, requesting assistance from medical staff for acutely ill or seriously injured patients on arrival into the department and take immediate actions as required.

Responsible for booking of all emergency specialty follow-up outpatient appointments.

When appropriate arrange ambulance or (taxi on account) transport for patients, following discussion with the Nurse in Charge.

Required to demonstrate job role and mentor new starters or less experienced staff for an 8-week period as necessary.

Improving systems and processes to ensure the most efficient service is provided.

Responsible for planning and coordination of allocating, distributing and prioritising workloads of the PPA team to ensure consistent levels of service and provide consistent standards.

This is a 12 Month Fixed Term/Secondment Role



The End User Support Senior Engineer is an on site role andwill assist the Team Leader with the development and support of the end user support team, providing desktop support across the trust, and all community sitesin line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and in accordance with appropriate standards.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant UGI Surgeon with a special interest in bariatric surgery.

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital the UGI department provides a full range of out-patient diagnostic services and inpatient elective operating services for benign, bariatric and malignant disease as well as outpatient clinics and day case sessions. The department provides a full service to patients with Upper GI cancers across Derby-Burton and Bariatric services for the East Midlands, serving Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

There are currently 9 UGI consultants within the unit, supported by a team of junior doctors, clinical fellows and clinical nurse specialists.

The department has access to a 9 theatre inpatient suite and a 3 theatre Day Case facility. The inpatient theatre suite boasts two fully integrated laparoscopic theatres and the Trust offers Da Vinci Robotic cancer surgery in urology, colorectal, head and neck and UGI/HPB.

The post will be based at Royal Derby Hospital, delivering the full range of outpatient and inpatient services for UGI and bariatric patients, both on site and at outreach clinics. The post holder will also provide emergency general surgery for adults and paediatrics as part of a 1:9 consultant rota, and should have experience in managing general, UGI & paediatric emergencies, including cancer and bariatric emergencies.

The post holder is required to be a Registered Nurse with supervisory experience. The General Surgery Department at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton has a exciting opportunity for an LED F2 or Junior Clinical Fellow (CT equivalent) in General & Vascular Surgery to join the department for 4 months from December 2024 and 3 months from January 2025.

The General Surgery Department is very busy with high throughput of both elective and emergency patients. Successful candidates can gain experience in UGI and/or vascular surgery, will be expected to support the team with ward rounds, as well as gaining experience in theatre and be part of the General Surgery F2/CT emergency rota.. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital the department provides a full range of inpatient elective & non-elective operating services, outpatient clinics & day case sessions.

Applicants should have completed foundation training and ideally have experience of working in breast surgery. Possession of the MBBS, plus full GMC registration with Licence to Practice at the time of application is essential.

The elective work involves daily ward rounds, time-tabled sessions for day case, theatre and outpatient clinics. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive Rheumatology Departments which provides comprehensive Rheumatology services for Derby and Burton together with South Derbyshire/ East Staffordshire & some parts of adjoining areas of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. There is dedicated therapy team and CNS team supporting consultants. There is a well thought of undergraduate and post graduate training programmes with plenty of opportunity to get involved in teaching. The Finance team have a hybrid working arrangement of a minimum of two days based in the office at the Royal Derby and Queen's Hospital Burton sites, and the ability to book additional days if required on either site.

The main responsibilities will be to produce accurate and timely monthly statements and to assist the Business Unit Accountant in investigating and explaining financial variances. You would be expected to work autonomously to understand the drivers of the variances, presenting them to clinical and non-clinical staff. Whilst actively seeking solutions and escalating those issues accordingly. This knowledge will be gained through regular meetings with budget holders working in clinical and nonclinical areas, which is key to the role.

Forecasting is an integral part of this role and you would be responsible for populating and presenting this to the Business Unit Accountant on a monthly basis.

Budget Setting is an annual process for this role, supporting the Business Unit accountant to determine the budget for the following year. Team work is essential in this role and when necessary to cover and support colleagues. Excellent people skills are a requirement when working with both finance and non-finance colleagues across the organisation.

The successful candidate needs to be hard working and dependable, have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able prioritise own workload to achieve deadlines. Also needs to be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Excel. A proven history of working in a Financial Management setting is essential
